Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

If they roll on their tummy
If they roll on their tummy by themselves you can leave them. Still keep laying her on her back but if she rolls over its fine. Just make sure there isn't anything extra in the crib with her.
It's scary at first but they have to grow up sometime. I still get excited when my 9mo old cries at night because I know he's ok.
Another big decreasing factor
Another big decreasing factor for SIDS is using a pacifier. My kids Dr's said it reduces it by almost 90%. Something about the sucking keeps them active when they sleep.
I have heard that the rate drops drastically at 6 months and then you are "out of the woods" at around 1.
Being a mom is some scary stuff sometimes. You are a good mom to worry. Especially when there are so many BM's that so many of us deal with that have dropped kids out of their lives. It still gets to me how that is even possible...
Thanks, ladies. I do keep it
Thanks, ladies. I do keep it pretty cook and it's interesting to know a fan will help. I'll try a paci, but she usually spits them out.
