I thought we were free and clear. Wrong!

As always MIL (who still has her guardianship at this point) insisted she had to have the skids this weekend. So they spent Friday night with her without incident. Saturday she said she had big plans and would be keeping them again over night. I knew we should have said no but she had already told the skids this is what all they were doing and blah blah blah. MIL also let it slip that the kids had been up past 10pm on Friday even though she knows they have an 8pm bed time and had complained that they had gotten up before 7AM. (Duh! That's why they have an 8pm bed time!)

Saturday night at a quarter til 9 FDHs phone starts ringing and its MIL saying SD9 has started pitching a fit to come home. FDH talks to her for a little while and finds out the reason she wants to come home is because MIL is going to make her go to bed at 9 after acting up all day. FDH tells her he will come pick her up but she is going straight to bed with no TV. Not the answer she wants so she decides she doesn't have to come home after all and will spend the night. (Mind you I'm ready to put my shoes on and go get both of them and put them to bed because I know what's going to happen when they come home.)

Skip forward to Sunday. Skids come home and they are both in horrible moods (very overly tired IMO) they are fussing with each other and started hitting which is not the normal behavior at our house. At one point SD pushed SS and knocked him into a toy box which of course upsets FDH and he makes them sit on their beds (no tv or electronics) until bath and dinner time. SD tries to pitch a fit to stay up past bed time again because "grandmother" lets her. FDH tells her he doesnt care its not up to grandmother and to go to bed.

We get up this morning to get ready for school and yet again SS8 starts throwing up and has diarrhea. Guess what's coming out..... CORN! fu@$!#& corn again! SD sees what is going on and starts saying that she was throwing up last night too..... A little. Which means she is faking because brother is getting to stay out of school.

I told FDH I'm done with this crap and I dont care what MIL says the kids are not spending the night with her anymore. NO MORE! I'm not dealing with sick kids every Monday or kids with nasty attitudes that it takes days to get back to normal. She can figure out a way to take us to court if she can come up with the money I do not care.

If your FDH continues to let the skids spend the night at MIL's house, then FDH needs to be the one to deal with his children. Not you.

Why does Grandma have guardianship when dad is an active caregiver?

Its a crazy situation. Basically BM took off when youngest was a year old but to get out of any responsibility for the kids she signed her rights over to MIL. And FDH never asked for them back legally in case something happened to him. But now we are in the process of having them transfered to him.

Next time don't even give the kid the option of coming home. 9PM is way to late to be picking up a child. It's not fair on anyone nor is it healthy. MIL wants to cry? Too bad she made her bed let her lay in it.
