Workplace RANT Mrs. Headlights!

Mrs. Headlights, who is the "office wife" of our manager, aka "Dr. Phil" has made me roll my eyes into my head!

Backstory: for those of you who work in IT, there usually is a ticketing system database in which people enter in their issues, complaints and needs as far as computer hardware/software/servers, etc. is concerned.

I've been keeping a dossier on Mrs. Headlights in case it comes back to bite me (due to her office wife status) for two years now.   She misassigns EVERY.SINGLE.TICKET with no reason or logic behind it. 

Now back when he had AWESOME ADMIN ASST who is now retired,  Dr. Phil would jump  on her with both feet if she so much as DARED misassign a ticket once in six months!  Whereas Mrs. Headlights is allowed to misassign tickets DAILY.  In fact it is a stroke of luck if she actually assigns the tickets correctly so for the most part, Dr. Phil goes ahead and assigns them as well as does her work FOR her.

Well yesterday late afternoon, I get a "jabber" (internal chat system) from Mrs. Headlights who obviously is using Cisco Jabber on her phone (which is something that I am somehow not allowed to use as it keeps mysteriously disconnecting every so often) telling me to re-assign a ticket that was misassigned.... TO HER! 

P.S. Did I mention that Mrs. Headlights is also buddy buddy with our lead Sys Admin (a skinny late thirties geekesque dude probably seeing to it that Mrs. Headlights Jabber consistently works on her Iphone) and the CIO, a mid 40 yr old, for the most part reasonable dude however he has also covered up for Mrs. Headlights ineptitude with Apple products; they are all "walking buddies" and do walks around the area on their breaks; no one else need apply!

I thought this HIGHLY ironic since Mrs. Headlights is the QUEEN of F@#$ UP!!!  I looked at the audit trail and noticed that another co-worker (who is also dangerously unqualified but has been here for like over 30 years) has assigned two tickets to her (mistakenly).

I jabbered back and said "Dead Wood assigned that ticket to you"

This morning I thought I'd send out a very neutral, very generic email to everyone showing them how to check the audit trail to see the "chain of custody" and who assigned the ticket to you.  I got a few responses back (to my horror) that this was something new to them and thank you from some of my other dangerously underqualified yet overpaid co workers.

She shot back with an email starting out with "Good Morning" which I knew was shorthand for FU.   She wrote that she was "concerned" that the ticket might not get serviced in time and that she had left the bldg and was unable to assign the ticket correctly.  That is why she contacted ME via jabber on her phone.  Instead of just calling me and asking who assigned her this ticket so she could deal with it accordingly.

I found this HIGHLY hypocritical because she has often MISassigned CRITICAL tickets that went by the wayside causing pain and agony to everyone involved.

In the past, Dr. Phil has repeatedly told me to just re-assign his office wife's outrageously incorrect assignment of tickets and gently "remind" her that the ticket goes to so and so instead...which would prompt a 20 minute lecture from Mrs. Headlights going into CYA mode and manufacturing some lame excuse as to WHY she misassigned the ticket... AGAIN.  No thanks!

Dr. Phil is having a VERY hard time keeping uip with his work AND HERS!!!!  We constantly get status update request for his tickets and hers!!! 

Dr. Phil is scared shitless of his office wife much the same as he is scared of his real wife, an older lady who has been retired from a huge local corporation for decades!!!

With this, all Mrs. Headlights Jabbers would go unacknowledged because, gosh, I never received it! *diablo*

We have alot of these people in our world, they always end up promoted. A co-worker told me, she doesn't have a D and refuses to get on a D to further her career.

Oh gosh, I have worked with these systems and can only imagine the pain of having to deal with this continually. I thought it was so on point that you sent out that e-mail. Only a shame that there is no picture of the facial expression of Mrs. Headlights upon reading the e-mail.

I feel your pain.  I have worked in IT forever too.  As someone who works on ticket and as someone who was a coordinator.  I work in telecom, the red headed step child of IT.  LOL

I really hope things get better for you.  But it always feels good to rant and get it all out.  Have you considered voodoo dolls.  I keep a couple in my desk and take them out every now and then, you gotta keep them scared and guessing.

I would pay a PI $100 to take photos of Headlights blowing Phil in the parking lot and send them to his wife anonymously.
