Be more selfish and take care of me more? lol

Went to an OBGYN the other day to talk about my issues I'm having going through menopause and my "irrationalities" (according to DH) during my PMS days, etc, went wanting to hopefully get on to a HRT to help with smoothing these moods out a bit so I can survive this marriage and not divorce again. Gyn told me to take vits and see a counselor. Yup, she said "you have a lot of stuff on your plate and you need to see a counselor and try to put things into perspective and find time to destress, find time to exercise, etc" She wanted to put me on mild antidepressants but I told her that I have tried that and it didn't work. I know she is right, but I guess I thought balancing out my hormones would sure help. She did tell me I need to be more "selfish" and take care of me more. Ok, ya right, when? lol

I've been on HRT for a couple of years, and feel absolutely great. No weight gain, no hot flashes, great sex, stable moods. I highly recommend it. Maybe if you report the physical manifestations in preference to the emotional, you could convince the doc. New research shows that HRT is safe and effective for early menopause symptoms, and there was a huge overreaction to statistical analyses done years ago that have not proven to be accurate, and docs are reluctant to prescribe effective medications based on that old data.
