Milestones!

So, this may just belong on a "wife talk" blog. But I am so annoyed, so I'm venting here. After spending my 40th birthday out in the cold in the middle of a football field because my husband planned absolutely nothing to celebrate, and because he couldn't tell "mini wife" "no" (she had a school orientation event-for a school she didn't end up attending), my husband is trying to guilt me into attending his cousin's 50th birthday celebration with "it's her 50th birthday!!!!". Just tired of everyone in my husband's life being more of a priority than me.

FYI, the competing priority for me is going home to see my mother and brother, who I haven't seen in months. His cousin previously cancelled her party, so I felt safe going home this particular weekend. She then sent the invitation out again. Apparently we all are just sitting around waiting to see what she plans because her birthday is a national holiday, after all.

No question, go see your family.

My DH isn't good about celebrations, either.  Nowadays, he does remember my birthday and is willing to do or buy whatever I want.  He just doesn't know, on his own, what to do.  One old standby that always works is if he gives me money.  Lol.  He married the material girl.  Lol.

I think that is what it is, not that he doesn't know how to prioritize, but that it is really all about him and the perceived rewards for his behavior from others and the attention he can receive.
