My BDalmost18 is one of the quietest kids you will ever meet. She is socially awkward, having received a double whammy of the genes from both her father and I. Poor kid.

One day last year, BD comes home and says: Mom, 'random kid in my class' came to me today and said Mr Toddler was at her house this weekend and he is soooooo cute. Turns out, ExH is dating this kid's mom. This kid thinks they are bonded now because they share Mr Toddler.

BD let it slip that this girl told her how ExH is so nice and he's quiet and spends a lot of time with them.

BD: I hope he is good to your family because he ABUSED my mom!

My BD never speaks up like that so I guess it was a shock. I had to leave the room to compose myself from laughter before I returned and said I appreciated her sentiments but that it's not the best thing for lunchtime conversation.

Anyway, random kid went up to her 2 weeks ago and said: guess what??? Since my mom and your mom are chaperoning the band and choir trip to the east coast, I put them down together to be roommates.

BD: 0_0

She confessed that later that day, she quietly ransacked the band room and found the sign up sheet and furiously erased my name from the roommate request.

It's sort of sweet how she is trying to protect me. And now I am rooming with the band teacher because BD requested it.

This kid, who never sticks up for herself or makes waves is finding her voice.

Unfortunately I won't be able to blog to you all about my roommate stories on the trip with ExH's girlfriend now. It would have made a great story. BM and SM - late night gossip sessions and pj parties. Bonding over exH and skids.
