just wanted to chime in, I am still around, not posting much, but reading and empathizing! I had a knife fight with a pumpkin the Sunday before Halloween, a ridiculous carving session gone awry and I ended up in the ER. I severed a tendon in one of the fingers of my left (dominant) hand, and I had to have surgery on halloween. I have a cast right now and then will have a plastic brace thing for 6-8 weeks, and have 6-8 months of pt and recovery beyond that.
it's hard for me to type with my left hand braced and painful, so I won't be commenting much until it's better, but still here supporting you all!!!

Sharp knives are evil!
My dad was cutting fat off a piece of brisket to smoke it for Thanksgiving and cut into the joint of his left thumb. I had to take him to the emergency room, where they called a plastic surgeon to repair the damage.
Hope you heal well and quickly! Keep up with the physical therapy, it really helps speed healing time.

But as you were describing your "fight" between you and the pumpkin, a wicked thought crossed my mind....
Why, oh why, couldn't that knife have slipped when BM was around?
