tattoos of the past

Mrs Katch 22's picture

Does your SO/BF/DH have anything tattooed on his body as evidence of the kid(s) or BM? Oh yeah, and where?

Does BM have any tattoos of him/kids?

What (if anything) was done?

My husband and I have several tats each, but we didn't get them until AFTER we got together. Our former spouses either disapproved or just outright wouldn't allow tattoos. I have wanted one for years. After we got married, I got a double cursive "L" on my ankle - for our initials linked together. He got a double "L" on his shoulder surrounded by four diamonds representing our four kids. I have a celtic dragonfly on my other ankle, a very small cross and heart on my shoulder and a collage of clovers on my back (for my Irish roots). We've gotten them all within the past two years.

DH has a few tats.. One on his back between his shoulder blades thats a Chicago Bears head.. He has one on his left upper arm that is tribal with a bear coming out of it. (he is a HUGE bears fan).. and he has one on his right inside forearm SD footprints from the day she was born with her name and birthdate.. on his left forearm he has ourson10months newborn feetprints name and birthdate.. I have a "tramp stamp" on my lower back.. Its tribal and has red roses in it.. I got it just after my dad passed away sort of in memory of him because he loved red roses and thats what he ask for for his casket.. So all of our tats mean something.. I want one on my foot, that may happen next month..something that is oretty, colorful, and has 3 blue something worked in to represent my 3 boys.. Just havent figured out what yet..

My dh has his kids names on his arm w/a heart.. and then an ex gf's name in chinese on the same arm.. needless to say, its my least favorite arm. I asked him how he thought the baby would feel when he is old enough to realize that daddy had the other kids on him, and not him.

DH saved his butt. Above the portrait of SS, he said he is saving that spot for "our child" when we have one. I guess DH is smarter than I think sometimes, lol.

Awesome question. I laugh everytime I see it because in so many cases it almost certainly dooms people's relationships... I guess it's just bad karma. A bunch of my friends are super high rate tattoo artists in the area, and only one of them will do a name tattoo for a relationship, and his disclaimer is that it's entirely to his discretion. I have several myself, but all for people who have passed away... Semi OT http://www.hulu.com/watch/61336/saturday-night-live-turlingtons-lower-ba...

Ooh! I've been looking for someone to do my next one but don't want to go to just anybody.

I know a guy in Standish, he's done all but one of mine and he's absolutely amazing.

My DH has about 16 tattoos or so. He USED to have BM tattooed across his collar bone, but he got it covered up when we got together years ago. He has my first and middle name across the top part of his arm (bicep?) and he has a picture of SD on his lower arm, a bible with her name on it on his pec, and a list of all his moms grandkids on his back.

My husband has ALOT of tattoos. None of BM and he has NO NAMES. He does however have a portrait of SS when SS was about 3 or 4 that takes up his whole forearm.

My DH wanted a tattoo of SD name on his body. I asked why he would do such a stupid thing. He got mad, but he hasn't done it to date. Like I want to see anyone elses name on him when we're doing our thing? No way. I don't approve of names, personally.

Wicked.Step.Monster's picture

I love my tats... I have 5, DH has 3. I had 2 before DH and I got together and he had none so of course his family thought I corrupted him into getting them... haha. DH has no names, initials or anything on his tats but I do have DH's name over a tribal pattern as my tramp stamp and I have perfectson's name and birthdate on my ankle.

I joke that DH's name is way easy to cover up if need be... haha Wink

The Wookie has told her kids that Truelight should never have gotten those tattoos (he got them all after he and I got married). She said it was a bad influence on his kids because it will make them want to get tattoos and make them want to drink alcohol. WTF?? I don't see the connection with the tats and drinking part. If my stepkids want tats, the minute they turn 18, I will drive them to see my artist if that's what they want. LOL!

LOVE that mentality. Tats make kids wnt to drink and your boy in the bubble routine won't make the kid want to explore/rebel as soon as they are able. Are the unicorns in your world pink or blue?

Wicked.Step.Monster's picture

Love it! Hahahah.... BM thought I was just HORRIBLE because I let perfectson get a tattoo last year and get this... I ONLY let him get the tat in memory of his best friend that was killed... I mean, this is a different circumstance than getting a tat just because. It is a beautiful tattoo on his shoulder blade with the word "Believe" and the date his friend died under it. I'm bad for THAT? Geeez.....

Oh I'm also bad because I have my ears pierced multiple times and my belly button pierced too.

DH has a tribal hawk on his left arm and a design he made on his right arm. I have 2 handguns surrounded by 3 roses with tribal 'vines' on my lower back. His mean nothing about BM or SD. The hawk is for his heritage (part indian) and the other design he got because it was his, unique because HE designed it.

My DH has about 9 tattoos. At one time (when he was 21) he had BM's name on him, plus her son and her daughter's names. They are all gone now. Before I met him he had her name covered up, the same month I met him he had her daughter's name covered up, and about 2 years ago he had her son's name covered up. He has no names now and doesnt plan on getting them. I have the first initials of my DH, and my 2 sons, separated by tiny hearts, on the inside of my ankle. DH is convinced tattooing names is very bad luck so he is not getting them anymore. I wouldnt do more than the first initial, because its scary and I like very small tattoos.

I have one tattoo and my BF has a few. He wants to get lanterns on his arm for his kids he just hasnt done it yet. I however only have one and its of a little devil on the upper part of my back, the top reads Jah which is what my SD4 used to call me when I met her and the bottom reads Samhain (i know spelled wrong my fault lol) which is what bf calls me. So I figure if we split I will still keep it simply it was what people called me not their names Biggrin

WOW - that SUCKS! Super funny what the tattoo artist told him though.

I have only 1 tattoo. It's 3 orchids - one for each of my kids/skids. I carried orchids at my wedding so it also symbolizes my love for DH.

DH has a few, luckily no names. His first tat was an ugly skull and snake that he got to celebrate his divorce from BM. He just got a large symbolic piece on his leg with a tree trunk, roots reaching down to his descendants and leaves providing a nest for 2 birds. He says the birds are us. Smile

Ugh DH has BM's name across his right upper arm. Idiot.

To be fair, he did an exact replica of a compass tattoo which I have on my foot on His right forearm.

I'm waiting for that coverup though!

DH and I both have several tats. He has both of his son's intials tat on each rib cage. And he said when we have a kid, he will have theirs done as well. BM wanted him to get matching tats and he never did. But our wedding present to each other was I have his actual lips on my lower neck/upper back and he has mine in the same spot. No names but we know what they mean. It was his idea and I did want us to get something that was special to both of us but nothing with names. I'm SO glad he doesnt have anything like that. He does have a Chinese symbol on his arms after his "first love" that says love hurts, but he told me that he wants to cover it after he met me. I said its part of your past and hell love does hurt at times, so I get it.

I have 6 tat's, none of them are kid or BF related, all just personal to me. My FDH has several tats! He got 1 with EW1 it's a rose with a ring aroung it with chinese symbols. Don't remember what the symbols say, something along the lines of 1 man, 1 woman, 1 life..something like that, but no names. He didn't have any tattos with EW2/BM. I have a shamrock on the side of my neck (my bday is on St Paddy's Day, and I'm Irish) and when FDH went on a trip to Jamaica a year ago he came back with a shamrock tattoo on his hip Smile He does have Scooty's 'real name' tattoed on his right pec, plenty of room for future kiddos. We both love tattoos and plan to have many more!

SO has SD name tattooed on his chest. Dont know what hes going to be for future kids... And I guess one night when him and BM were drunk, she started to carve her nickname into his shoulder blade. It got to SH and she stopped.... Dunno why. I'm happy she did though.

I have my grandpa from my step dads side's initinals on my left wrist becuase he passed away on my 17th birthday.
I have my maternal grandpa's initial on my right wrist because he had a heart attack in june of last year.
And I have starts and flames and dice on my lower back.

Wow!! DH *HAD* SD's face and name tattooed on his chest. WTF, that's why I liked the lights OFF during a-hem. Like I need to see SD's baby pic looking at me. Right after we got married, he covered the "name" one up. Shortly after, he covered the face one up. Now we have our own kids, I don't push him getting their names on him. It costed A LOT of money, over $1000 because he wanted a band and whole chest/shoulder thing. I didn't care what he got the cover up of, as long as he covered that sh!t. We used to go on vacation and people would say "that you're kid? nice tat." Uh, no. As of today, SD still doesn't know they're covered up. I wonder if she'll ever find out. I remember DH told me BM asked him if he still had the tats when we moved in together. Skank.

BM has SK's name on her body (I've heard). She got pregnant a while back, I wonder how wide that tat stretched to, lol.

On the show TEEN MOM, I saw kids getting their baby's footprint/hand print tattooed on their body. One guy got it on his abs. haAHAHAAHAH..I'd like to see how that tat looks like 10 years from now when he's not skinny anymore. Maybe that baby hand print will grow as big as an adult's hand print, LOL.

I have a "tramp stamp" but it's totally not related to anyone, just me.

I really liked that one. I had a baby who I gave up for adoption when I was around that age, probably a few years older than they are. I really respected what they did and I dont have a tattoo of my baby, I still have a picture up in our home. After I had him, I went to the Air Force recruiter just like the guy did and I lost my mind crying. I was scared, didn't know what I was going to do with my life. It ended up being the best decision I've ever made. I met my DBf and we have a wonderful life, happy family, and beautiful home together. I have no idea where I'd be if I had kept my baby boy. My heart really went out to those two. My DBf has his son's name on his R arm and "carpe diem" on his other. I have 8 tats and I got them all after I went through basic training. I love them, but I have no names or symbols or anything that reminds me of past BF's. I grew up surfing so I have a lot of large flowers that have red, orange, pink, blue, etc. "sunset colors" I also have an air force tattoo intergrated with the medical cadusus across my shoulders.
