Anyone seen this? I set it to record so I can watch it when I'm doing the ironing as DH hates this sort of thing. I think it is oh too familiar for him and he gets triggered! Wink

It was mentioned last year and people really liked it, can't remember who the poster was but she watched it with her husband and he did not see it happening in his own home..

I haven't seen this, but in the 90s there was a Lifetime-esque movie starring either Kirsten Dunst or Julia Stiles where she is in love with her father, and after her mother dies, she tries taking over as wife and mother. At first, Dad doesn't notice and just appreciates the help, fueling the mini-wife syndrome this girl has. Dad is clueless and goes to start dating, and Mini-Wife starts losing it. If I remember correctly, her sister and the new girlfriend are the only ones who see it, and it isn't until Mini-Wife tries to kill everyone that Dad goes "oh jinkies, something is wrong with my kid!"

I am whole-heartedly convinced that mini-wives are in love with their fathers, just as their mothers are. Their BMs never show them the difference between fatherly and husbandly love, and BDs don't want to alienate their kids so they support any love they can get. Daughter loves Daddy, Daddy thinks it's great that Daughter loves him and spends time with him, and Daughter slowly plots to remove any woman from his life that isn't her - including BM.

Freud wasn't necessarily wrong with his Oedipus and Elektra Complex ideas. He just needed to be alive during the divorce boom of the 80s to point it out.

Can confirm. Rented this once without realizing what it was based solely on the actress. I wouldn’t hug or kiss my dad’s cheek for weeks after seeing that because the whole idea was squicky!

YES! I remember that red dress and being creeped out that ANY child would wear it in front of their parent.

Well, MSD tried to be a mini-wife but DH shut it down before I even had to say anything. Mostly, she wanted to be the "favorite" child. I didn't understand until I figured out that BM flaunted that MSD was the "favorite" of hers. It's pretty sad.

Haven't seen it but I would watch that sort of think too when Chef isn't home. He's not one for "chick flicks."
