"THE" Talk

mommylove's picture

So H and I had "THE" talk lastnight where I FINALLY aired out all of my grievances about our situation and why I suggested that we separate a couple days ago or go to counseling to try to fix things after he expressed that he really didn't want to separate and wanted to try to work it out. It actually went surprisingly well. Similar to the other night where I expressed that I wanted to separate - it was very mature - no yelling, arguing or cussing - there was some crying, but that's to be expected.

H says he pretty much "KNEW" everything I said before I said it, so obviously that begs the question why he didn't DO anything to prevent this? I basically just said in no uncertain terms that if things do not improve after counseling, especially in the difference in how he treats my BS6 v. SD11, then I would definitely want a him to move out. He acknowledged his faults and agreed to work on improving his parenting skills with my BS6 and SD11. He also gave me the "green light" to parent SD as I see fit, although I did express that I have some discomfort with that and I think he should step-up and step-in and he says he will "always back my play".

I guess we shall see...

Yesterday is over. What he did before should not affect your feelings about his "coming around to your point of view". If you harbor resentment about the past you'll ruin the future. Smile, kiss him, thank him, and get on with the business of making things good.

Congratulations.
