8th grade graduation

misspeanut's picture

Well........ can't believe that school is almost out! It has been horrible trying to discipline a SS, when he only comes to the house on the weekends. He doesn't do his homework, doesn't turn in papers, doesn't pay attention in class, doesn't care - has 3 F's and 2 D's - but guess what?! He will be having an 8th grade graduation at the end of this week and everyone in his family is attending. And I ask myself "to congratulate him on what"? What has he achieved? I feel that everyone attending is sending the wrong message to him - like he did such a great job - and deserves all the attention. Other parts of me just doesn't care anymore. Now I am at the crossroads of what to do.... support my husband and go - or stay home because it is against all that I believe in???????????? what to do, what to do....................

Yes, I have told him that we are sending the wrong message for the ENTIRE family to go and make a big deal out of this. It isn't a big deal. He didn't do his homework, didn't pay attention in class, didn't study for tests, didn't make an effort - although I tried and tried for the past 2 years to help him. I just don't agree with any of this - BUT there is nothing more than the ex-wife would like is for me NOT to show up! Just a hard situation to be in. Just wait until the kid enters high school - his world is about to be rocked!!!!

Don't go. It is not a moment of triumph over adversity. His son managed to sneak into the next grade. Whoopdy shit.

no child left behind. yay. oss and yss are both "victims" of this stupidity.

personally i'd go to support my hubby. however, my dh CP and she's not much in the picture, as opposed to ya'll who are eowe. sounds like maybe you'll get attacked with a wicked headache right before it's time to go to the ceremony. Wink
