I'm Back

lylagarrett's picture

Well, it's me again! I wanted to post a little note to let everyone know that I am alive and kicking! Surgery went well and they removed both breasts and approximately 9 to 12 lymph nodes. (I'm a little foggy on the lymph nodes!) There was no cancer in the lymph nodes but approximately 6 cm of invasive cancer in the left breast. Therefore, I still have to go through chemo. Unsure on radiation, but will find that out when I visit the oncologist. Physically I am doing well. It was a major shock seeing myself the first time after surgery but think I am dealing with all of it fairly well. It helps to have such understanding family and friends! I am still tiring out pretty quickly but wanted to post a little to update everyone. Thanks to all!

I am so sorry you are having to experience this. I don't know really what to say to keep you encouraged, or to even help you in the slightest way. I think what you are enduring is so tough and seemingly unfair, that I applaud you for bracing life, and holding on with a positive attitude.

You have given me a great perspective today, to appreciate what I have now, and that is my life, my family, and my friends. I am truly greatful that your surgery went well, and that you are recovering. I wish I was there, in your hosipital room to personally give you a hug, to hold you hand, and to help you through the tough days of chemo. I am truly sorry that you are experiencing this, and I am praying that you have a speedy recovery!

Next time I see a walk-a-thon, or 5k for breast cancer, I'm going to donate and run for it in your name! Thank you Lyla Garrett for surviving, and reminding me that every precious day that we are here, is a gift!

I'm glad to hear you are doing so well. Good luck with the chemo and possible radiation.
