Oh MIL, can't even keep it together for a funeral...

One of DH's uncles (FIL's brother) passed away unexpectedly earlier this week. The service was today, and MIL decided to join (mind you, she and FIL have been divorced for 15+ years but still act *somewhat* married...it's odd).

Anyway, kids are with us, and she must have been talking to them about school because, out of nowhere and interrupting DH in a conversation with one of his aunts, she starts poking DH in the arm trying to get his attention.

Now, one of the fastest ways to get DH annoyed with you is to be impolite and/or interrupt him/someone he is conversing with. This isn't a new trait; MIL should be very aware of this because DH has pointed out to her before that he finds this behavior from her rude.

So, she's poking. DH turns to her and quietly asks what she wants. She continues poking him and, very sternly, admonishes him for not telling her about OSS's band concert.

DH tells her to immediately stop poking him, so she resorts to wagging her finger in his face. She is doing this IN THE FUNERAL HOME. LESS THAN 50 FEET FROM GRIEVING FAMILY. IN THE MIDDLE OF SOMEONE ELSE'S CONVERSATION.

She is acting like she is scolding an 8 year old for forgetting to do his homework. DH kept his composure, told her he texted her, and it's not his fault she didn't get the text.

THEN she says, "oh, well I did change my phone number; check and make sure you sent it to the right number". Then walks away.

DH could have burned a hole through her forehead if he had superpowers, his glare was that intense. And she wonders why she doesn't get invited over much anymore...

Some people just really don't have class... These events are already sensitive.. You don't need to tend to any other business during it....

Give sympathies to your DH. This whole situation probably wasn't easy Sad

Condolences to your H! Your H handled it well and I commend him for keeping his cool. Some people have no respect especially during emotional times like that. That issue she wanted to address wasn't that serious that she had to interupt him......smh.....
