Fear the Walking Dead.. And their "blended family"

LadyJ's picture

Anyone watching this cringeworthy representation of step life?
I'm already totally addicted but geez the step stuff is bad.

We have the snotty dad hating teen ( pas anyone)
The new wives kids who indelicately point out that step daddy is off with his first family or "real family" saving them while 'new family ' sit around in an unprotected house awaiting the return of the great protector. The kids saying f$&k it, he made his choice and it ain't you Mum , let's get the hell out of dodge. But no, she stays and waits cause y'know denial denial - no he's looking after his kid oh no it's not about the ex at all.

Then you have SM asking BM to shoot her in the head if she ever turns zombie so that DH doesn't have to.

... And now he has two wives living under the same roof. Isn't that the dream ??

Frankly if the roles were reserved, I'd be like ... Gunshot .. Oh "oops BM, of you meant shoot you AFTER you became a zombie? Damn girl, my bad"

I like the spin off, I get frustrated and keep yelling, HEAD SHIT DAMN IT HEAD SHOT LOL.

As far as the "step" I would have already gave BM a head shot when no one was looking, fuck that bitch lol!

It's actually really good, bit slow to start but it's a really interesting and very different. Quietly unsettling in the first ep as things seem "different" but not in an obvious way

Seems strange that he's the only one. Especially when he said he got all his info off the internet, aren't all teens permanently attached to the internet now?
I do hope we see him again, his explanation of his family sitch ( whereabouts of parents and uncle) seemed a bit off.

I'm watching it, I liked the comment, "if that happens to me......... because it would destroy him" comment.
I saw it as her way of tactfully making the rank known, and the look in BM's face showed she got the message, but that was just my view of it.

However, having BM and son ride in the truck with DH while his wife and two kids are in the other car following them out to the desert was VERY creepy to me!

Right? What was with the DH getting in the car with his ex? IMO, the ex could have ridden alone while he rode in the car with his son and the rest of his FAMILY. The fact that he keeps referring to the ex and their son as "my family" is nauseating. The son is his family. His new wife is his family. His ex is NOT family.

Ugh.

I do like the show, but this whole dynamic kind of ruins my enjoyment.

I didn't really get the vibe that he hated the step kids. Maybe the girl a bit, but he seemed to genuinely care about Nick and they kinda bonded in the hospital.
Give him time though I guess. Smile

There was a scene where hubby was talking to son and ex about finding current wife and all of them together. .. I yelled out "oh hell no". It just slipped out. DH said "agreed".

I saw it as PAS because teen looked to have the resent dad being happy attitude and because I really disliked the horrid way BM spoke to DAd on the phone in front of teen . The 'oh here we go, you're canceling because of your new family ".

Maybe I'm projecting though. It's been known to happen lol

And I hated BMs passive aggressive stab at SM " I think we should listen to Dad" with the meaningful look/ smirk.

Agree they're all being pretty dumb . I can't believe SM at risk like that to wait around, even after he told her they'd meet in s safer place later.

I was pretty shocked that he stuck with son and BM in the drive later though.

What the hell has happened to the pimpley teen prophet of all things zombie?
I loved him, he's like the Cassandra of the zombie apocalypse.

Plus I get that he had to bring BM with him. Not an option to leave her behind. But, I was very turned off by them being suddenly joined at the hip and BM trying to assert dominance in SMs house.

Doing the chores side by side with ex hubby ( washing dishes), challenging SMs plan and saying basically I'm sticking by ExDH he has my support. I guess not really the words, more the attitude that goes with.
I think they'll kill her off. I mean the relationship triangle thing gets boring quick ( Laurie, Rick and Shane)

Glassslipper's picture

She wasn't doing chores (ie washing dishes) she was washing her hands after she dressed the wound on the lady's ankle.

LadyJ's picture

Yeah that could be right.
Mm perhaps I'm tainted ...all interaction with BM is suss . God step hell has made me bitter!!

LMAO yeah, I'm right there with ya. I'd be like "Shit, she was turning and begged me to shoot her!"

I guess I'm the odd one out. My DH and I talked about this and decided we would go get skid TOGETHER if something happened and who cares is BM and her family come with us? No, we don't get along with BM, but you gotta do what you gotta do. We even joked about coordinating a JIC meeting place with BM now. Haha! However, if skid was already home we would just take skid with us and NOT meet BM because we are awful like that. Wink

I like the show, but not as much as TWD. I haven't given up hope that it won't improve though. I'm super frustrated that they are moving sooooo slow getting to safety and don't seem to be planning well. Neighbor turned? Yeah I'm taking his larger vehicle and all the supplies he already pack for sure. She was at the school WITH the school buses. Everyone could fit in those!! I guess the show is meant to represent a world where the "zombie apocalypse" hasn't been discussed ad nauseam. Also, I figured the one kid saw the zombie stuff on some conspiracy theorist websites and that's why he was clued in when others were not.
