Good things for today

Because I always come on the board and post when things are bad - time to post something positive. Balance!

So, after Feral Eldest and her "Big Reveal" of her hatred and animosity towards me, and her "blame game" on Dad, Munchkin SD12 has been super sweet. I dont know if its her pre-teen moods, her appreciation of me and all I do, her wanting me to stay, and realizing that tattling to her mother and sister will only drive me away...I dont know, all I can do is accept it and appreciate it.

Recently, without being asked or told, when I am racing out the door, shouting "goodbye, have a great day" through the bedroom door, she will ask me to wait, so she can come out and give me a hug goodbye. I cant tell you how unbelievably sweet those hugs are. Unasked for. Makes things worthwhile. My suspicious nature subsides.

And this week, she has been very talkative, following me around the house sharing her art, and her school life, and her videos. Its been really great. As if all the truths coming out previously were like a hurricane that sweeps through with its destruction, but also scoures out all the muck, clearing the decay, giving a clean slate to build anew.

I dont know, Im just appreciating it. Her packpack was breaking, I offered my two (goodwill bought) really nice backpacks (REI, and Ralph Lauren, and at first she refused. I thought about it, and mentioned that she could HAVE THE BACKPACK not borrow it, and I think that was why she was hesitating, because borrowing means that if something happens to the thing, there is conflict, and this kid will do anything to avoid conflict. So she happily trasnfered her stuff from old to new, knowing if she spilled or ripped or whatever, there would be no weirdness or drama. I hadnt really thought of it before, becuase to me - its just stuff. Shes borrowed stuff from me before, or broken stuff, but its no big deal because its all just stuff.

Additionally, I met with my mother and she is really excited about helping us get the house. Either way, we win, because we either get the house we live in, or have a down payment on a different house. Change is tougher for us, we love our place, as old and funky as it is right now. But sometimes change is good, and for the better.

Thank you for reading! It does get bettter and thanks for all the prayers and well wishes and intentions.

Love you guys,

CLove. (C)Love.

That's so exciting about the house! I hope it happens soon. And it definitely helps with the stress and frustration of skids when you can see them genuinely wanting you around and giving affection.

SD9 loves giving me hugs and telling me she loves me. For the past week she has been asking me what I want for Christmas and my birthday. I said I don't really want or need anything, honestly, and have told my SO I would rather go somewhere. I thought she was asking just out of curiosity, or so she could tell my SO. She looked disappointed and said, oh...she then told me she wanted to buy me a present and wanted to know what I might like. OMG! So cute! I immediately came up with some small ideas (socks, earrings), but I was really touched. She has never gotten me anything before.
