I was looking into Child Support laws in our state as BM is taking DH back to court for more support. I found out he is already paying too much as they have always gone off his gross and not net income. That was good and then I found out today that "gifts" his parents give us have to count towards his income. DH's parents are very generous and very well off. They have given us over $6000 in the past 3 months, and they do this for all of their children. Have any of you heard of this or know how to make it so the money we get from them (last year was nealry $10000)will not go to the BM?

Talk to a financial counselor. There have to be other ways they could provide that money that would not be considered "gifts". For example, if there was some kind of trust or investment that they established in the DH's name? I'm quite certain there is some way to handle this but a financial advisor is probably your best bet.

Don't disclose the information -

In the future open an account in your name only and deposit the money that way.

More than likely they judge will not view it that way.

yup. file taxes individually, put all money into your act--it will be a gift to you not him.
