Here Comes the Weekend

Chmmy's picture

Another weekend that BM cant take the kids. SD10 has basketball at 8pm Saturday so right smack in the middle of the weekend. She doesn't even have to make an excuse this time, it's been given to her.

I guess I'll have to find excuses to get out of the house again. The gym only gives me so much time! I remember a time I looked forward to the weekend.

Anyone else use excuses to get out? Care to share?

Christmas shopping! That's almost an unlimited hall pass.

I also do Real Estate on the side, so showing houses is a good "out". Sometimes I just say I'm meeting friends for drinks, I don't really care. Sometimes you just need a break!

I rarely spend time around the house on skid weekends. The skids come to spend time with DH; NOT with me.

I go to the bookstore, meet friends for dinner or drinks, do some shopping (window, Christmas, etc), or go to my parents' home. My Dad is a snowbird who lives in FL most of the year with my SM. Sometimes I spend the entire weekend there - cleaning, reading their old books, look through family albums, browsing my Mom's cookbooks and recipe files... I occasionally stay the entire weekend doing a deep clean of the entire house and cook up some favorite recipes (especially things that DH won't eat). Once I get my gym membership, I will also be spending time on skid weekends working out.

Skids were with BM about 36 hours in all of November so Im constantly trying to get away. It helps I dont get home from work til almost 7 so the gym and errands or stopping at my parents for an hour(or more) gets me through to 830 or 9 when it feels safe to go home.

My parents are snowbirds too but i dont think DH would want me gone that long. He's still looking to form a Brady Bunch like family with me ❤

Well.... it's also a matter of what YOU want. He doesn't want you gone and you don't want to be there. Compromise. If your skids were tolerable, you wouldn't want to leave.
