OT - Aniki is back

MidwestMrs conveyed all of your comments - she actually read them to me! I'm so touched. (And now a 4-year STalk member.)

First... Thank you SO MUCH for your love, well wishes, healing light, positive thoughts, and prayers. I cannot begin to tell you how much it means to me to know that I have actually affected people in such a positive way. It made me cry - in a good way.

Second... I have a slew of personal messages - I will answer you as I can. I am still suffering from headaches and need to take frequent breaks from the computer screen.

Also, my beloved U.P. has been devastated by flooding - 8 inches of rain in a few short hours. People are stranded, homes are totalled, roads are gone. A 12yo boy lost his life. It's a terrible catastrophe and we will be doing a LOT of cleanup and repair. If you can donate in any way (time, gloves, shovels), there are several sites. Including places to contact if you can come help us clean up.

For young Thatcher... https://www.gofundme.com/thatcher-markham-fundraiser

God bless you!! My cousin is still stuck, but they have supplies to last for quite some time. We have 5-6 shovels and will be putting them to use. Call me when you're on your way. xoxo

Welcome back doll!

So sorry to hear about all the devastation.

Thanks, DPW!!

It's appaling, to say the least. Outsiders are telling us to "build higher to avoid floods". Um, hello?! On a hillside?? It's not a matter of higher. One of the waterfalls - which is a seasonal waterfall and only appears during spring runoff - turned into a veritable monster, the size of which has NEVER been seen. The destruction from it... I have no words.

Welcome Back!!  And thanks for posting the link to the GoFundMe page.  Those of us who are not in close proximity to this devestation sometimes don't know the best way to help. You've given me a way.  Thank you.

Thank you!

Thank you and bless you for helping!!!!! Anything, no matter how small, is welcome.

Yoopers have always been strong, caring people, and while it's a sad situation, it is certainly something to see this coming together, this willingness to help. Because when it affects your community, it affects YOU. It makes my heart swell.

Good to see you back here.  Prayers for all those affected by the floods.  You are right to not wait for the Govt to do what you may be capable of yourself.  I recall the national guard showing up about 2 months after a hurricane here to distribute water... no need at that point.

Thanks, ESMOD.

No, we can't wait. We've had first responders rushing to help who got stuck when road gave way and were helped out by others who were right behind them. People who risked their safety to help friends in shock by running in and out of homes to save what they could.

There was concern that flooding near one cemetery could cause problems with some of the interred. Thankfully, that's not looking to be the case. I have family buried there. Sad
