Wrote it down accidentally my @$$

The other night when DH and I were driving back from my mom's house, I got a call from a weird number. Same area code we live in but the number was not in my phone. Normally I wouldn't answer it but it was Christmas week and thought maybe it might be someone I know.

Turns out, it was CutCo, saying "your friend SS21 referred you for a job with our company". I was pissed, wanted to yell at them that he is definitely NOT my friend, nor will he ever be. But more than that, I don't like random companies having my name and phone number, that they can now go and sell to other random companies. DH didn't understand why I was so upset. Gee I don't know DH, maybe because I know your precious son hates me so wasn't giving me a job referral out of the kindness of his heart. He did it to annoy me. Told DH he didn't need to say anything, because I didn't want SS to know it bothered me.

Last night I get home from work, DH asks me how my day was and then tells me he talked to SS and asked why he gave CutCo my name/number. SS's answer "oh I must have written it down by accident". And of course DH believes him, why would SS lie about that?!? Right, so he's writing down names and numbers from his phone, and comes to mine and ACCIDENTALLY writes it down without even realizing it? I call BS, he knew exactly what he was doing. He's 21 not 2!

Why the hell does he even have my number in his phone? If I hadn't had my number for so long, I'd change it just so that he couldn't have it!

This would piss me off, too.

My SIL used to give our number out when she rented furniture or took out a student loan (and then didn't pay). She was specifically told by DH that she did NOT have permission to do this.

You can believe I called her up and WENT OFF.

Oh I thought about calling him up and calling him out on his lie but I think that he would just give it out even more to piss me off again. I'm hoping if I let it drop, it (he) will go away!

He got some kind of discount, coupon, or cash for giving the referral to you. Didn't want to tick off the rest of his contacts, but didn't care how you felt about it (of course).

I'd call the person at CutCo back, and explain that you didn't know that SS had your phone number, you don't have contact with him, and you want CutCo's assurance that they will not use your phone number for any purpose.

Hopefully the person tears up whatever SS filled in, and at least you won't be bothered anymore. They're pretty desperate at CutCo, so they probably won't find it all weird that you don't want your number passed around.

What I would really love to tell CutCo is about SS's criminal background. Surprised they don't do background checks and found it out themselves. The 2 drug charges and theft from Walmart.

If they did that, they wouldn't have any suckers *koff* I mean salespeople.

Have some fun with this. Give his number to some organization that he doesn't agree with, ie the nra. Let them hit him up for donations. Or sign him up for some phone calls from annoying salespeople.
