O/T - artificial colorants and non-artificial colorents...

Acratopotes's picture

I'm sounding like spam, but I'm curious and maybe some one can enlighten me....

I'm eating chocolate eggs with candy coating, blue, green, yellow, red, orange, pink and brown, it's similar to M&M's just taste better....

across the packet is printed - no artificial coloring....

the question is - where does one find colorful sugar to make candy to coat chocolate, isn't all colorants artificial?
It's not like the eggs taste like strawberry or banana or orange...

what other ridiculous food labels do you know off..... that makes you go WTH??

ok turmeric does not taste like anything...., pink can be from beets.... , I highly doubt this factory is telling the truth... there's no way they will go to these lengths not for the price we are paying per packet...

must be the elves lol........ or it's plain and simply false advertising....

i would not be worried if my chocolate eggs are pink or brown or artificial colorants or not, chocolate on it's own will get any kid hyper lol.... regardless if it's blue or red

I am doubtful this is all non-artificial as well; when it comes to food---believing the packaging is about a good as believing our politicians. In limited quantities you will likely digest fine. But not too much Acratopotes, I enjoy your advise too much...lol.

Some shiny coatings on candies are also made of bugs, like jellybeans.

oh you are evil - I use to love jelly beans but after reading this... never buying again

I used to love jelly beans too, until I found this out. Now every time I look at one, my stomach turns.

Natural food colouring come from fruits and vegetables.

I can't eat artificial food colourings, flavourings nor sweeteners. I break out, toss my cookies, get really bad eczema and severe head aches. I do most of my own baking and if I am going to a pot luck, I usually offer to bring deserts as I know what is in them.

You can make your own. Here is a video!
