Small Step

Last night was SS16-Zippy's ski night. DH wanted to encourage Zippy in the one thing outside of video games that Zippy would do outside of the house-Great!

We are not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination-so it kind of surprised me that DH bought Zippy expensive ski's (which Zippy ruined on his first day of skiing last year-and by some miracle the ski shop paid for half of a new pair this year!)-so DH was feeling generous and bought Zippy $300.00 ski boots (NICE!)-everyone left the store happy (I was not there so that made me happy).

Last night Zippy called to be picked up from skiing around 9:30pm-DH goes to get him-they come back and Zippy slinks upstairs like a greasy shadow-DH is standing there, tapping his foot, looking VERY annoyed-

Finally, I ask him what is wrong-DH sends a furitive glance upstairs to make sure Zippy is not pasted up against the wall of the stairwell and cannot hear him, says:

"That idiot son of mine LEFT his ski boots on the school bus!"

I continued sipping my herbal tea

Me: "That is too bad dear-are you going to buy him new ones?"

DH (face turning red)-"How the hell do you "forget" a size 12 pair of ski boots on a bus?"

Me: "I don't know dear" (when you let him lose his brain in video games 24/7 I'm surprised he leaves the house with his head on his neck)

DH (with furrowed brow)says:

"I am NOT buying him a new pair of boots!"

Me (thinking) we will see-good old Zip will flutter his camel like eyelashes at Daddykins, maybe throw a nice bone Daddy's way (like pick up after himself one night) and VOILA instant $300.00 ski boots.....

Zippy pulled the old chestnut "you don't trust me" when DH had to pull SS out of bed every morning for school and for his new "job". So of course Daddy had to let Zippy have the trust (not earned you know)-and brags to me that THIS TIME it seems to be working....

So this morning -Zippy crawls out of bed (having missed his school bus)-SLOWLY(hence his nickname Zippy-kid does not move faster than he has to for ANYONE!)leisurely pours himself a cup of tea (DH's face is getting redder and redder at the dining room table) and SS spreads himself out like a lazy lion cub on the family room sofa and sighs a dismisive "ho-hum" at the world around him -

At this point I go upstairs as I want to throw something at the lazy butthead!

I come back down at 8:30am to leave for work -Zippy is STILL slowly stretching on the sofa-DH comes down and I ask him:

"Are you driving Prince Zippy to school this morning?"

DH (through pursed lips) "No -he can fall, get a late slip at school-AND I AM NOT BUYING HIM NEW SKI BOOTS"

It was a peaceful drive to work.....

Re the ride-I saw Zippy trudging through the snow towards the bus stop and DH cleaning his vehicle off-I would not be surprised if Daddy drove by the bus stop to see if Zippy was alright-but I don't care now.

Zippy of course had NO time to brush his teeth and wash his face before school this morning (he also needs a shave-but will look like ZZ top before that happens-I am sure the girls will love that combo!) -but SS had time for a 20 minute tea and stretch!

Ski boots will be needed next Wednesday-will Daddykins cave OR will he make Zippy buy his own boots is the question?-OR by some miracle (as per Zippy) "Aw Gee Dad what are you so pissed about?-someone will turn them into the lost and found this morning-duh"

I did now even mention the expensive IPOD Daddy bought Zippy that got left on the train 1.5 years ago....that is a great story! (BM to the rescue-bought him another one).

I've got one too and hes 23 yo. I am about ready to ship him out of here. Surprise, Surprise. Yesterday I was thanked by his BDad for trying to make him accountable and never giving in or backing down. Mine showed up here Christmas with his GF announced they were engaged. She is also homeless because he found her living in a tent in the park. They promptly charged a 5,000 ring to prove they are serious about their relationship. BM rented an apartment for them and paid for it with the CS so who is going to pay the bills after July? Neither one of them have good credit so their interest rate is about 30%. BM has always given in on everything just like your H so we shall see what happens when the money ends.

I hope they kept the tent sounds like they might need it.

What I have to look forward to :O

I better buy the vineyard now, there won't be enough wine on the planet to get me through that!

My two BS's (Charlie 1 and Charlie 2) were with me when my X and I split-Charlie 1 was past age for CS-but DX had to pay for Charlie 2-Sooo to get out of paying me CS for Charlie 2 -he moved Charlie 2 and two of his closest friends into an apartment and paid the rent-needless to say Charlie 2 and the Cowboys trashed the apartment and DX ended up paying more for repairs than he would have had to pay me that year!

Believe how slow he moves(part of his passive aggression)-there was an old show called "The Honeymooners"-a character called Ed Norton (Art Carney) played him-moves very much like Zippy-DH, much like Jackie Gleason used to blow a gasket at him-very funny-

Takes Zip an hour to make a peanut butter sandwhich (not used to doing things for himself)-

Yes-the boots were a complete waste of money-and now down the drain-DH never learns.....

Can't wait for "Zippy goes to Europe in 3 Weeks" Should be a hoot-wonder how long before DH is boarding a plane to save Zippy from himself in Rome or UK?....

I always enjoying reading your blogs... Smile you're so funny.

I have been there when DH tells me one thing, and although I pretend to agree, deep down I'm thinking, "Oh, sure. We'll see!"

I remember when we bought brand new Hannah Montana white sparkly pants for Blabb because she HAD to have them! She would DIE if da da couldn't buy them for her! :barf: So DH gets them :barf: and what does she do? She pees in them. And doesn't tell us right away. So her peed pants sit in our laundry basket for days... and now there's a nice little stain! Biggrin Yaaaaaay.

DH's reaction? "Oh... kids will be kids."

:o 8 year olds (almost 9) should not be running around peeing in their brand new $45 pants. And if they do, they should SAY something so I can wash them pronto.

Anyway, good to know you got some pleasure out of all of this... and I know you did! Smile

I tried to suggest that to DH but boy did he blow up!

My 8 year old does not need a diaper!!! RWARhissRWAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's grown!

Blabb is "just a kid" one moment... and then the next, "she's all grown up!"

So I lose either way. :/ Grrrr.

He is 22yo. He is supposed to be in college getting his masters degree but BM let him drop out of HS when they did not want to get up in the morning. Then she rewarded him with a 30,000 sports car and whined because the ins was 300 per month.
