SS10 and Son's of Anarchy (poll)

Ok, I need an opinion. So my DH and I DVR'd the tv show Son's of Anarchy b/c we were in the middle of cleaning our new apartment. My SS10 walks over to his dad and asks him if he could watch the show. (Now if any of you have ever seen this show it's a biker gang that has a clubhouse that is filled with people hanging out, women coming and going, having sex, sometimes doing drugs and killing people). Last season they were running a Porn film industry. So in my opinion he shouldn't be watching this. His BM used to let him and my DH said he could watch it last night.

I heard him ask it faintly b/c I was in another room, but I asked what he said just to make sure I heard him right. He said he told SS10 that he could watch it. I don't think he should watch this show at all. He's only 10. So my DH of mine tells me to go and tell him he can't watch it then :jawdrop: I said no, you tell him since you already told him yeah b/c I am not looking like the bad guy. So he never said anything b.c he already told him he could watch it. I said do you understand why he shouldn't watch this? I got the deer in the headlights look.

I let him watch 1/2 hr of it and told him it's 9:30p and it's time for bed. He said "dad said I can watch it and it's only 9:22p". I said the next time you watch this will possibly be on a Thursday AFTER we watch it and approve it, if there is nothing bad in it. Which there will be, and he wont be watching it. So that was my way out of it. My DH walked up and said when she tells you to do something you do it and not question it all the time. So he will back me up on it, but I don't think he sees anything wrong with watching certain tv shows.

What do you think? what age should a kid/teen watch this show?

THANK YOU. I thought it was just me. It's graphic half the time. Boobs all over the place, butt cheeks in the air, swearing, getting raped and all the extra's. Do men have really no filter? south park was a convo of ours too, that and family guy. I think I am going to start with your Mantra, it might help me out half of the time. It might look like I am talking to myself bc I will have to say it out loud to help me relax...hehe.

We love to watch SOA. We record it so we can watch it later once the kids are in bed. They are 13 and I wont let them watch it.

My DH has always allowed SS to watch South Park, Family Guy and The Simpsons but I don't think those are appropiate either!

Well I do watch the show.. but I am a woman who is in her ummmm... 30's ...

But last season they had a scene of a woman who was chained up and being violently raped. Not soemthing I would want to be watching with my kid. I mean how do you explain that one. "Hey son... that woman wronged the gang, so she needs to be chained up and needs to be beaten and raped"

That is why they do put ratings up on shows. I amnot a prude... but I think that some shows really do have some rough content that may be too harsh for children to understand.

My SS grew up for 9 yrs of his life were his mom let him do whatever he wanted, including watching R rated movies. Once he came to live with us I put on Harry and the Hendersons (it's a movie from the 80's) a cute young kid movie (I like it myself) but it's for young kids. He's never seen it. I named a handful of other ones too, like the Goonies, Casper, Adventures in Babysitting, just movies like those and he hasn't seen them. This was me :jawdrop:

If you ask him if he's seen dirty, killing movies, he's seen them at least twice. I mean sure, why not sit with your son and share the bonding movie of 2 people having sex and doing drugs. Good times huh? this is also mother of the year. Gotta love the way BM raises their kids. So now he thinks he still gets to watch whatever he wants since he came to live with us while he is in his own room. So I think it's time for the password on his tv. I think some DH's need things spelled out for them of WHY kids can't watch it. It says in the beginning of SOA that there is violence, sexual content, nudity and language. HELLOOOOOOO DH.

So when I told him he can't watch it until we watch it he had the deer in this look of "WHAT" on his face. Then I closed the door w/a smile...hehe. Sorry Jr. not in our house. You already have half of BM's DNA in you, we don't need to boost that into high gear w/a killing tv show w/sex scenes.
