So, for mother's day this year, I've decided that I want to get my a portrait photo done of me and my girls.

DH is feeling like I should include adult SS.

I just want my photo with my kids. SS won't even be around on mother's day when I scheduled to have it done.

If SS is not around and doesnt want to be in the picture than I'd agree not to force it.

Invite him... If he doesn't make it. It's on him.

If he does. Have them take pictures of everyone and just pics of the ladies. Call photographer ahead of time and request... explain the situation so the PHOTOGRAPHER says "ok now ~ how about one with just the ladies."

Depends. Did you raise him? Were you a significant part in his life growing up? Does he consider you to be "mom" or in the "mom" role? Would he be offended if you didn't tell him about it? I would personally remind my husband that I didn't birth him so I don't want him in this particular photo session.
