Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

Most companies have some kind
Most companies have some kind of thing you can log into and see the usage so you know how much you've used/how much is left...I'd suggest just checking in after a few days to see how it's going and you can kind of get an idea from there. If they don't have it as an online thing they should be able to tell you how much you've used if you call them I'd guess?

I had 5 gigs of data, and I used it up in days because of streaming. I live in central Virginia where there are no major cable companies in our area so I tried satellite which was expensive and didn't offer much. If she is streaming you can kiss your data goodbye.
I ended up going with EarthLink DSL which was significantly cheaper and unlimited data. It works through a phone line. We can stream now without worrying.

It is crazy. We moved from a large city to Small town rural fringe living. It's beautiful and alot less expensive, but the trade off is no cable, no internet choices, and no get good places to dine at.

Do you have cable dsl?
Do you have cable dsl? Usually home service is referred to in Mbps which is the connection speed not the amount of data. Home data is usually unlimited, but if you are in the sticks, there may be some limits or a different package. Definitely call back and check, they can answer for sure and you won't have to worry about it. Lord knows you don't want to get socked with an unexpected data bill........

We are kind of in the sticks. That's why I am concerned. DH games too so I'm unsure of the data package and usage. A teenage girl at the house stream in all the time is going to kill it akin with him at night I'm thinking. I need the internet for work.

Then definitely call the internet provider and make sure before the weekend is over. Most of the time they will not give you credit for overages or they make you jump through hoops to get it. It would only take 10 minutes to make the call,to find out. Don't speculate.
