Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

Best feeling ever. That
Best feeling ever. That happened last year. It's been great until the court started sending letters saying we still owe $174. Grrrrr. Told hubs to call and check on it and just pay it and be done!
If his "child" finds out that
If his "child" finds out that "last check" was written, it might cause the "child" to have hard feelings towards dad. It could be taken the wrong way.
He IS 18 now! Wooo hoooo!
He IS 18 now! Wooo hoooo! They are now both legal adults!
We are in month #3 of no CS.
We are in month #3 of no CS. DH has paid it for 17 years, always on time.
No more calls with BM yelling, "Where's MY MONEY??" when CSE was late processing payments.
Funny thing though... the date of emancipation was the beginning of November. DH couldn't file the paperwork until AFTER that date (so he went in the next day). Since DH gets paid weekly, we figured it would take at least 4 weeks for the cessation to be approved, approval sent to his employer, and for his employer to stop the automatic withdrawals. And for the next 2 weeks, DH's check reflected CS was still being taken out. But then one day our mail came and there were TWO checks from CSE, one for each week after the date of emancipation that CS was taken from his check.
Of course.... that resulted on ONE LAST CALL from BM wanting to know, "Where's MY MONEY??" because she, too had figured that she'd still be getting her paychecks at least until December.
My DH informed her that "her" money just bought him a 65" hi-def smart TV with surround sound, and it's sitting in our living room.
Priceless!
Priceless!
Congratulations! We are
Congratulations! We are finally done after 18 years but are still waiting for the refund check of last months payment. Of course CSU collected it because everything takes 20 business days to process according to them. The check was cut on Friday and they said to allow 10 business days to receive it! They certainly have no problem taking it electronically like lightening but anything else goes by pony express I guess!
Its a great feeling though!
