Does anyone know where I can find it? It was life-changing. I have a friend I dearly need to show it to - to help change her life.

Nope.

Sad

It was one of the best articles I've ever read on step mothering.

I read an article about how normal and acceptable it is to absolutely hate your step-kids and demand that your husband not even allow them in your house. I kept thinking it was satire, but it wasn't. This woman even used a biblical story to justify telling a man to send his kids away. (She describers herself as a "Christian wife and mother" in her author bio, after all.) It literally sickened me. I know a lot of times kids and step-parents don't get along, but this attitude of accepting and promoting alienating them is just AWFUL!!! I left a rather sarcastic comment, which was deleted within minutes. She only approves comments agreeing with her. It's just disgusting to me and I needed somewhere to spread my disdain. Misery loves company, after all. The article: http://jilldeibel.hubpages.com/hub/Why-Nice-Women-Dont-Like-Step-Kids My comment: http://oi58.tinypic.com/10f9r9s.jpg <-sorry to anyone my sarcasm offends

Oh my word... bitter much? That lady definitely has a fucked up way of thinking! DH was a step dad for 2 years before we were together and we still have contact with his ex stepson who is 6. I'll be the first to admit i can't stand that little future felon. He is a mean, foul mouthed, undisciplined, manipulative little shit because of the (lack of) raising by his mom. Those are my personal thoughts about the kid. But you know what? That's MY problem, not the child's! He is always treated lovingly, i buy him clothes and toys, and he would NEVER be made to feel unwelcome or unwanted in our home. I can't believe the author of that article could try to condone treating ANY child that way!

OMG, that lady is NOT a Christian! No real Christians I know would ever write anything like this. Nor would anyone I know for that matter! My husband and I moved our family back to his home town a year and half ago. And you know what family we spend most of our time with? His ex-step family. Yeah. His dad isn't even married to her anymore, they've been divorced for 10 years but her family fully and completely accepts my husband and our kids. He still calls her mom and we call her parents Mamaw and Pap-paw. This article is obviously her trying to justify her petty selfishness with her own step-kids. How about trying to build-up and help step-parents who are struggling? How about teaching them how to bond and love and care for their step kids instead of right them off? And what about your husband in this situation? How is supposed to deal with a woman in his home who wants nothing to do with his own children? *deep breathe* Ok. I need to stop. I can go on. The ridiculousness of the article is appalling.

Gosh maybe you are right! Maybe one of those selfish butt-hurt bitches DID have it removed from the internet.

"For example, if you ever dreamed of dressing up a little girl with sparkling shirts, fru-fru bottoms, hair bows, and lacy socks only to find your step-daughter prefers to look like a ragamuffin street urchin with no class like her mother, it’s just another reminder that your DNA will never enter the equation."

Thank you! You're the best!

Are you able to post a working link?

MarriedaBallessWonder's picture

Yes, it was me, but the link I have is not working.

Thank you my dear. You just made my day.

I'm glad that fantatic article is still around.
