Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

What a Lovely Craft Room You
What a Lovely Craft Room You Have Firedog... Why Thank You.
Muhahahaha! So, this evil SM moved the SS20's uber smelly clothes and garbage, (yes even the garbage) across the hall into the other spare room. (it was being used by SS18, who is equally discusting)
It is so nice and peaceful, zen like I would say. Candles, my herbs, books and a freshy shampooed futon. My friend came over for tea and I showed her my work, she was impressed with my zen room, and then I opened the room of stink. She literally plugged her nose! I said, My DH doesn't smell that! She was gagging. I just put some air fresheners in there. I'll be damned if I am going to do it's laundry.
So, now my head is spinning with comebacks and anxiety about if they come back, what will happen? Where will he sleep?
I don't f*cking care. There's a lovely (seriously, it is pretty nice) sofa in the basement. If their stuff was that important, they wouldn't have left it all to rot and stink at my house.
DH is in nights. He should see it today, I left the door open.
Wish me luck and zen!

Sounds wonderful! If they come back they can share a smelly room and maybe being uncomfortable will move them along - out of your house.
Those smelly clothes and
Those smelly clothes and garbage would be ONE reason why they would not be allowed to come back, except for the occasional visit (and not overnight).
I would have moved all that crap farther away than across the hall, called them to come and get it, and if they don't, I would get rid of it. They obviously don't need whatever they left.
Perhaps your DH would enjoy a nice man cave across from your zen room?
