O/T Happy Birthday to me!!! (Yesterday)

Rags's picture

Yesterday was the 31st celebration of my 29th birthday.

It was a great day.  No plans. We just went with the flow.

So, how does one celebrate their 59th B-day one may ask?

An impromptu drive to Death Valley.  That may have all kinds of subconscious undercurrents.

My bride wanted to see snow. After our Saturday AM weigh in at the IP clinic we had breakfast at our go to breakfast place (The Cracked Egg), popped home to change out of our very light clothing into more substantial layers, put on our hiking boots just in case we needed to hike a new trail or hike out if I buried the jeep in a snow drift, and off we went.  A couple of hours later we found ourselves at Death Valley Junction so we took a Left and headed into the National Park.  After several hours of 'Wows!' from my rock hound bride, we headed home for dinner.

She pointed out that we had crossed into the State of my birth on my birthday. Something that would have never even registered for me if she had not pointed it out.

Unknw

I did show her snow but only as we drove by various mountains on our random meanderings.

What a beautiful place, what a beautiful day, with a beautiful person.

We took a few selfies from Bad Water Basin, the lowest place in N. America nearly 300ft below sea level.  I may have been below sea level on my birthday but fortunately I am still above ground.

A nice night time clear sky drive back and a B-Day dinner at our go to Sushi/Sashimi place.

And that is what I did on my birthday.

I hope everyone has a great day celebrating their B-day this year and I hope you will have a great year.

I am planning on it.

Im prepping for a wonderful week and watching the s-bowl on and off while husband and barnacle friend yell at the tv. Thankfully its in the garage man cave. While SD16 PS hangs in her room meandering back and forth to munch on the munchies that husband made for his s-bowl party at home.

We are safe and sane Biggrin and I am cleaning what not and just hanging out.

Sounds like a lovely day! My grandmother lived somewhat near Death Valley CA for decades in Palm Springs when she was alive (and before she moved back to NY). I remember visiting during the summer... her backyard was all desert and mountain ranges. It was beautiful.
