The start of 3 wks with skids- send wine

TrueNorth77's picture

DH and I got got back from a (mostly) amazing 2wk vacation Fri night. Aside from both skids texting him every little thing that was wrong, and to tell him they were sick, again. SD13 went home from school on DAY 2 for something that could have been solved with ibuprofen, which she has access to at school. DH said to her, "You really couldn't make it through the second day of school"?Then she missed volleyball practice a different day because she once again was "nauseous" (see my last blog, where I mentioned how she is ALWAYS nauseous, and that isn't normal to me, but when I brought that up DH got pissy). Anyway, per my new disengagement plan, when DH was telling me all of this, my responses were, mmm....or, oh yeah? Mmm.. SD was very responsive to DH for the first 2wks she was with Crazy, but the last week she was aloof and only writing 1-word responses. DH said, SD seems to be awfully quiet, I get the feeling she is being brainwashed to team Crazy. Me: Oh really? Hm...

Anyway, we were driving home from the airport on Fri and SD calls DH. She said she had a fever. DH said, ok, so....take some ibuprofen? You're still coming here tomorrow. He said she sounded bummed, like she was trying to call in sick to coming to our house. I was already dreading them coming for 3wks, but now even more so because we're going to get mopey PAS'd SD. They show up at our house at 4pm yesterday and SD is standing there in shorts and a t-shirt fake-shivering dramatically. She kept saying, i'm freezing. DH said, (somewhat annoyed), are you trying to tell me you're sick? She said yes. I said, why don't you put on more clothes? She said, Idk, why would I? I said, because you're cold?? DH said, no kidding! Like seriously kid. DH asked if Crazy had given her a Covid test, and SD got defensive and said no, "it's probably just the Flu". He said, idk why she wouldn't give you a test. SD said, idk, probably because I don't need one. Apparently Crazy had a fever also. So DH gives her a Covid test, and sure enough, she has Covid. He sends her up to her room to quarantine, and now she is going to be there for 5 days. The LAST time she came here she immediately got sick on day 1. How is it possible?? These kids are fricking Petri dishes!

DH sent Crazy a message telling her SD has Covid and Crazy replied, full of excuses about how it "just came on so fast", she didn't test her, blah blah blah, and then had the nerve to tell DH he should test SS too. STFU. Months ago DH had Covid, skids weren't exposed to him because DH was quarantined when they came by us, but she sent DH messages about how awful we were because "Truenorth77 took Covid tests, but we couldn't give skids Covid tests". I took tests because I was exposed to DH, skids were not! Now, SD had symptoms and she still didn't test her, so we were all exposed.
We're irritated because we just don't want to get sick.

So day 1 back from vacay and we were sent a kid with Covid. Off to a fantastic start. It is ALWAYS something. It's exhausting.

As someone who is recovering from Covid for the second time in 4 months, I would be pissed.

I hope you weren't around her much before she was sent to her room.

This was really irresponsible of BM. I know that parents are parents, even when kids are sick, but it's ridiculous to expose TWO homes.

And honestly, DH probably still would have had SD come- but it would have been handled completely differently. None of us would have been around her and she would have gone straight to her room. Crazy is such a fucking idiot. Literally one of the stupidest people I've known, and this is just one small example.

It's REDICULOUS your husband would have had her come if he KNEW. For me this would be a big hell no.

Covid will become the new stephell lice issue.  What a dumbbell you have for a BM.

of the most unpleasant sampling method available and call this bullshit in real time the second they show up.  Zap her in the forehead with the laser thermometer and call her bullshit instantly when she has no fever.  Then shove a long ass Q-tip up her nose and test her for COVID, etc, etc, etc...

She wants to play games, play them by your rules and make her shit esceptionally unpleasant for her.  She will learn in a hurry that she will not be allowed to play visitation hooky, leave school early, or otherwise manipulate anyone away from Crazy BM.

Bring the pain and increase it until she pulls her head out of her lying manipulated ass.

If she turns out to actually be sick, quarantine her accordingly.  Sick or not, there has to be consequences for her manipulation and part of that is teaching her that she has lost all credibility and trust.... until she earns in back with years of impeccable behavior.

IMHO of course.

Grrrrrrr!

I just dont get thsi whole swappign of the kids when someone inthe famly has covid. To me it is soo selfish on these parents parts - selfish for the needy ones that just cant miss a visitation day no matter what (my DH)  and selfish on the parts of the parents just want to pawn the kids off onto the other parent so they dont end up with their own children more days (my BM).

I totally agree and know what you are saying. I do feel like DH still would have had SD come even if he knew she had Covid, but I'm just guessing...if he did, his thought process was somewhat thinking of me- because we are already having skids for 3 weeks in a row due to this switch, so if SD didn't come, SS probably wouldn't come, which would mean we most likely then would have them for 4 WEEKS IN A ROW- DH knows I would literally die and that's way too much, so I think he was trying to get the switch going. During a normal schedule if he knew a skid had Covid he would tell them to stay at Crazy's. Still, knowing she HAD Covid would have allowed us to distance from her and not be exposed, even if she came here. Still, I'm annoyed by the whole thing because we were exposed and didn't need to be. If I get Covid I'm going to be PISSED.

a COVID test at every handoff.  If I were an NCP, I believe that I would.  No test or anything  but negative, stay the hell with your other parent.

Particularly is I have other people in my home.

NCPs can do that.  They should.

IMHO of course.
