*hangs head in shame*

I have a pair of these sandals. I only wear them on vacation and only for activities that I need both shoes that can do a light hike and shoes that can get wet. My self-esteem plummets every time I put them in the morning before an activity but I'm always happy I have them when I get where I'm going.

I also have a lot of "old lady" sandals for a women in her 30s. I have very bad feet and I wish I was more interested in style, but comfort has become a really important factor.

wear heels and have had that heel pain thingy where it feels like you're stepping on legos.  I have high arches and somewhat wide feet size 6.5 to 7.

New balance sneakers and vitonics clog/mule slippers.  i also wear okibashi? flip flops.

I had that, too, but was able to correct it with exercises. What really helped me was gel inserts for the heel.

I had to look them up online.  Yeah....they are pretty bad.  I don't think they are really designed for anything but comfort.  Smile

but don't come close to keens. the curled up front toe is especially aggregious.  Almost angering.  Never could stand neither feet nor shoes with toes pointing skywards.  Chef does this a lot when on his rocker recliner.  Horrid looking especially with long toenails.

Men wearing those Keen sandals with socks is some next level stuff, though. I refer to them as “Mandals.”

Yep, Crocs are hideous too.

Both my FIL and my BIL wear Keen sandals and Crocs year round. Bleh.

I’ll add: open toe mule slides. You know, the shoes with that clunky 3 inch square heel. They aren’t flattering AT ALL. Stop wearing those, ladies.

I have to chime in with open-toe boots.  Who thought that was a good idea?  Covering the entire foot and ankle but exposing the toes?  And half the time you see them, the woman's toes are actually hanging off of the sole and suspended in mid-air.  Just bizarre.

I do not have a lot of room to talk about comfortable versus uncomfortable footware though.  I wear high heels every day for work and have for decades.  I recently hurt my knee and was in flats for 3 months.  It was torture.  My Ortho recommended that I scale back to heels capped at 2 inches.  Ha!  The amount of money I have in the shoes in my closet is staggering (pun fully intended).  Quite often I get "great shoes but don't they hurt?"  Well, yeah!  LOL  Pass the Motrin and save the stilettos.  Smile

Crocks are the only things I find terrible...ok, and open toe boots LOL.

I come from the land where Keens and Birkenstocks rule - so they never phase me.  I would not ever choose BIrks but they are comfy!  And Keens are super super great for outdoor warm weather sports that can involve water.  I don't have a pair of the ones you mention, but I do have two other styles.  I wouldn't wear them "out" though, unless I was on my way to/from said sport.

I had someone laugh once at Clark's shoes...I said, "Um, I am wearing some now...." She shut up pretty quick.  Ha!  Give me a pair of Clark's or Naturalizers any day!

I actually think Clark's shoes can go either way. There are some that are absolutely hideous, but there are others that are quite stylish. When I was in a professional setting, I had quite a few pairs of Clark's heels and got compliments on them regularly. It always surprised me and I wondered if people would change their mind if they'd known they were Clarks.
