Dominatrix SD stb 18 (grade 12) is failing 5 out of 7 subjects. I noticed that she is taking what we used to call "bird" courses. IOW a lot of fluff courses; nothing really heavy duty.

Prince Hygiene, YSS stb 14 (grade Dirol is failing two subjects.

They both have two illegal absences and five lates.

Not surprising seeing their track record for their entire academic life, but just :jawdrop:

I feel like school is a joke, a complete joke. Ss was failing- he stayed after ONE day complete his writing project went from an E to an A?! How...then in his other class its supposed to be a college prep help course (helping them be organized, learn how to take good notes) How does he have a B??? HE HAS NO NOTES, HIS BINDER IS NEVER ORGANIZED(and its empty,i remember having stacks of paper by now, where are his papers?) , HE HAS WORK SHEETS FROM THE CLASS WITH NOTHING WRITTEN??!!

But i cant say anything because then im mad for ss having a good grade?!

He had a writting assignment due in social studies...it was horrible, i could not even read some of his sentences-not lying could not read them- he still got an A on it?!! Howwwww????

I really fear for these kids- future adults.... its horrible...

School has been dumbed down to nothing more than a political rant (left leaning) by the VERY WELL PAID professors and teachers (if communism is so great, why don't they teach for free?)

Anyway, I found a 1918 4th grade reader and if anyone has any doubts about the North American educational system being dumbed down, this would remove all doubt.

Those 4th grade kids in 1918 were expected to learn and know more than today's bachelors of science degree (and I said science not art, human services, etc).

Here's what I do not understand - when I was in middle school I decided that I did NOT want to live a life of poverty and deprivation. I worked my tail off to get an education and make sure that I could eventually support myself.

And this was in the effing FIFTIES when career opportunities for women were few and far between. How do people - even very young people - not have the common sense to realize that one's choices make a HUGE difference in the life you get to live.

My life has not been perfect by any means - but it is light years better than what it would have been if I'd been a slacker who only a little bit to get by.

As a successful, true single parent, I concur. The objective is to raise independent, successful human beings, not entitled, enmeshed, dependent mental midgets.

Aw, still reaching for the stars, eh? Good for them!

Does Dom have anywhere close to the credits she needs to graduate this year??

She's "special needs" (bad parenting is now a learning disability) So she'll graduate regardless aka won't be held to regents standards.

Been about 2 months for Pooper (SS14) and he's already missed more than half of the homework assignments. Dog knows how he's done on any tests or quizzes and what he's like in the classroom.

However my lips remain sealed...

Gotta love the speshul snowflakes.

Sad thing is these a lot kids who are failing out of school are also the ones who don't know how to cook, clean or handle most basic adult life skills. Scares me how a whole generation is so helpless and enabled due to crappy , guilty parenting. There is no fear of failure anymore , these kids know they can live at home and mooch off Mommy or Daddy well into their 20's or 30's.

Yep. There are. a whole lot of articles about the under 30 set not knowing how to boil an egg.

This is what I have tried to tell DH. Children don't just turn 18 and magically know how to do all the adult things. They need to be taught and guided and practice so they have the skills needed to function in the world. And if you're not showing your child then how is he going to learn it.....

He gets it but the Disney Dad mentally settles in again and it's just a waste of my breath and energy.
