O/T A Nightmare on Hell Street WARNING:might be offensive

thebrokenrecordmachine's picture

Since May 15th, my families life has been pure hell. But were moving at the end of the month thankfully!

We rent the ground level of a house(the main floor) and the landlord has turned his house into a triplex. I believe he can get in trouble with certain bylaws here in ontario. Anyways, above us is an alcoholic couple, the bf works and the gf stays at home.

Downstairs we have a schizoid, a bipolar alcoholic and a jonah hill wannabe(google the actor to see what im talking about), actually, Ill just call the downstairs losers, SUPERBAD.
The landlord clearly doesnt want to pay his mortgage.

Upstairs the couple were fighting, it was actually quite scary, i find the gf to be a bit of a bitch, never really friendly with me but friendly with SO. I made a comment that I shouldnt have to SO, as SO ended up calling our landlord saying you better make sure everything is okay upstairs(as the bf was screaming at the gf). I got jealous, because he didnt defend me when she was being a B to me, not that he could(hard to explain) but he called the landlord to see if she was okay. I think I am a bit jealous of her because she looks sort of like SO exgf, shes not really attractive and ugly personality...hard to explain.

Anyways, these losers downstairs blast their gangster music to piss us off; Because apparently walking down the hallway is an offense to them, so they retaliate by playing their music untill 1045 at night. Did I mention they are all white? Not that it matters....oh and one of them is in his 40s.
When we go anywhere in the house, they will bang on the roof and tell us to "F OFF". The 40 year old virgin, even told my daughter to F-OFF because she was walking into the living room(he didnt know it was her, however they do know that she is young and they dont care and still blast their mushit and say stuff).

We are constantly calling the landlord and only complain when they initiate it...usually its because we walked into the hallway or just in general walk around.

Yesterday, I had it as did SO and we were dropping things on the ground so it would make a loud noise below(sounds immature i get it, these guys are just selfish pricks). They stopped for a bit and then continued, so anyways I go on youtube, I find a video of a baby crying, set up the speakers, put them towards the vent and blasted it....this worked. This worked so well in fact that the landlord ended up texting us to see if the "baby is okay". Priceless.(they thought it was my daughter crying and reacting to their music).

Anyways, me and SO were getting it on last night after all this BS and the pretend baby crying....and they start banging on the roof saying shut up, because the bed was creaking. OMG it was soo funny! They also were making soundbites, of what we sound like in bed and it was one of the funniest reenactments ive ever heard LOL. They were moaning and saying things like "Fuck yeah"....which honestly we are pretty quiet.

It was just nice to seek vengence on these losers, who make our life hell! I keep telling myself 2 more weeks, 2 more weeks!

Wooow and I thought I had it bad with the 77 year old lady down the street who walks around in her bikini winking at DH. Girl you must have nerves of steele to be able to survive that.

Well since we are sharing...

I had a battleaxe of a lady living underneath me that was CONVINCED I was having full-on Ancient-Greek style orgies in my little 3 and half apartment every night. This woman was also buddy-buddy with the landlord so one day the landlord handed me an eviction notice. I stared at the landlord unblinkingly telling me that he has every right to kick me out since I was such a "nuisance" to the neighbors (as if I had no idea that tenants have rights too). I was furious, but all my friends and my GF at the time told me that fighting an eviction just simply wasn't worth it. So I found a new place. It was nicer, quieter, and even cheaper than the old place.

I told the landlord that I was leaving. I also told him that if he wanted to show the place off to perspective tenants on the weekend before my move, he could do so, as I was going away to attend my best friend's wedding and wasn't going to be around. The landlord thanked me and from that moment on, he was civil with me. The weekend came and went. I had a great time at the wedding and I returned home to my old appartment with the dubious task of packing all my stuff together for the move. As I was putting my stuff in boxes, the phone rings. It was the landlord.

"Draco! I owe you an appology!" He said.

He began to explain that while I was away, Mrs. Battleaxe called the landlord to complain of the noise coming from my appartment.

"But I wasn't here!" I said.

"I know!" Replied the landlord. "That is what I told her!"

But this woman was insistant that I was there causing a ruckus. So the landlord actually came by and knocked on my door to see if I had come home early. When I didn't answer, he used his key to go inside. Sure enough, I wasn't there. The landlord told me that he gave my neighbor seven loads of crap. "Draco was really a good tenant! He paid his rent on time and he wasn't making any noise! YOU are the problem here!"

The landlord told me I could stay. He even told me he would let me stay one month free in order to make up for my hassles but I had already signed a new lease.

>I wonder what psychological disorder makes one hear phantom orgies.<

Dunno. I also found it strange that her husband never once complained to me.

He was retired but had to do some work in his "home office". I think hubby may have been entertaining the lizard brain while surfing the net.

Did the neighbor have some reason not to like you? I wonder why she would report noises that weren't there. Maybe she has voices in her head!

I pray that I never have to live in an apartment again. I don't have horror stories really, just annoyances. Like the nasty old lady with HUGE SAGGY boobs who NEVER wore a bra. She sat outside all day everyday. She was obsessed with my husband and would come to our house at 1am.. Called our baby 'her baby'.. it was weird.

EWWW Steppin!! Wow that's icky!!

Our issue is our upstairs neighbors smoke in their apartment like crazy and it comes into our kitchen. We've done everything under the sun to get rid of the smoke smell and finally contacted the apartment management company. They gave us two options: either move out in 30 days or figure out a solution with the neighbors ourselves since it's not in violation of the lease that they are smoking.

Yeah, sure, we can find another place and just move in a month! We've tried talking to the people upstairs but they aren't having any of it. They're both older, I'd say 60's/70's, both have handicapped stickers in their vehicles and the man wears oxygen!

Smoking AND oxygen do not mix!!! I'd make sure your renters insurance is up to date, seems like they'll take care of the situation all on their own.
