Rutherford may want to read this as a cautionary tale. My YSS19 has never been as much of a brat as her SD but can still be a pain. Holidays can have skids lapsing into bed habits.

So Friday I meet DH and YSS after work at the train station to get a train to go snowboarding. Straight away YSS is coping an attitude like "I don't want to come" and "I'm too cool to be seen with the two of you". Argh! So I told DH to fix it. Calm descends and we get on the train.

We eventually arrive at the resort. Mr 'I don't want to be here' is back.

Just to set the scene, I really need this break. Work is awful and I need headspace to chill and figure my next moves. Also (don't all get mad at me) I paid for this trip (mths ago before I knew about work). I really wanted to go so as long as I enjoy it I don't mind. And the final thing is that we had to get medical sign off from the neurologist to bring him.

We were walking through the resort to get ski passes and a few lessons when I saw red. I took DH to one side and told him that there are 5 trains per day from local station to paris and that YSS is an adult and could get home on his own from there. I also said that if there wasn't a 180 attitude adjustment I'd be buying the tickets for YSS to get home and would consider this money well spent as an investment in my mental health.

That did the trick. The whining has stopped. The only wine is now the drinking kind.

The worst thing about the whinging was that it was 100% for attention. YSS loves boarding and this is a huge treat.

Anyhow. This is the last time he comes after this little episode so more fool him.
