How Many Times Can Lose Insurance Medical Card

Sweetie's picture

Let's See Now--
In the last eighteen months, I believe that I have called BCBS a minimum of 5 times to replace my 17 yr old SD medical card because it has been lost. So, can we agree that someone is not responsbile?
Who could that be? And now, because I'm out of state, I have to give her my old card, with all the customer service numbers because we can't get one of those anymore, because we're in GA, DANG it! DUH!!!
And she's been using a copy of an old card from 1999, and I'm not supposed to be ANNOYED!!!!! I spend more time cleaning up Biomom's and SD's constant screwups than anything else. I ought to be paid for this!!!!!!! So, why is it that anytime anything goes wrong, I, the stepmom, am stuck with it? And, when I go to my husband for help, to tell him about a problem, that I am working on about something posting to our bank account twice, I always hear from him first, "why is in that you always have a problem with the bank?" So, I said, next time, I just won't tell you and let them charge us an extra $62.00 for something twice. And the next time someone wants to screw us over, I'll tell them to go see you and screw you first. Yea, that's what I'll do. So, I told him, I had enough and walked off the sunporch, and walked upstairs to the computer room and went back to working on the bank stuff. And when he came upstairs, I said, also, by the way, the Officers Club, never refunded the $30 for the Mother's Day Brunch that I never got to go to because you go hurt." Maybe you should just take your bankcard in and get them to run the credit right there and then tomorrow. But it obviously didn't happen when you called them. And I want the $30. And he looked at me and said, I was wrong at the bank stuff. I said, "Oh, really?"
It is amazing how all this rotten bank stuff always happens to someone named Sweetie.

Maybe they don't have to be responsible ....because they know you'll always be there to pick up the slack. They never suffer the consequences for being irresponsible.

I've seen my SD do this kind of thing (to her Dad though) many times. One example is when she was 18... She dropped out of university and didn't file the proper paperwork..so they charged her tuition for the second semister....we forwarded letter after letter that came here for her..which she read in front of us.. explaining that she owed them money.. and needed to contact them to straighten things out.... She ignored everything, every request, etc, for a year & a half or so...until she ended up in a collection agency...Then she comes crying to Daddy to fix her mess. Which he did!!((Dispite her not taking his repeated advice to get her paperwork done..all along!!)

It is frustration...but her Dad has always "fixed her messes" and by doing that..she doesn't have to be responsible for her actions.

The bank account might be different if your name is also on it. And I realize, it is sooooooo hard to sit back and and not fix the wrongs yourself if it's your nature to do so... frustrating as it is!

Maybe your SD should call to get the replacement card or maybe she isn't responsible enough to carry the card. Maybe you could keep it until she needs it and make her return it as soon as the appointment is over.

We make copies of the medical card and give the ex the photo copy and we keep the orginal

Have your SD call the ins. co. for replacement card next time. Tell her you will no longer provide it for her, she needs to be responsible. Why can't biomom hold on to it if SD can't handle the responsibility? OH yeah I forgot biomom is stupid.... Sorry I just had to say that.

We order an extra card for biomom to keep at her house in case stepson would have to go to the ER. His doctor already has info on file for him.

However, yes biomom has lost it before and we got a call as she was taking stepson to the ER, that she didn't have his card. We had to go there in the middle of the night and give the info to the hospital(we would have went anyway since stepson was sick but it is the principle of the thing). I think that was the time that stepson ended up with Scarlett Fever that biomom left go untreated for a couple of days. She took stepson on a road trip to visit her father, who was in federal prison at the time. Stepson was very sick but biomom didn't want to change her plans. That was a fun night. Stuck in the waiting room together for hours!!
