SS is daytime potty trained...night time isn't gonna happen for a long time because BM refuses to clean up a mess

DF and I started talking the other night about how we think SS3 is ready to start trying "real" underwear at night instead of a pullup. He does wake up often with a wet pullup, but he never has accidents during the day, or even at nap time. I looked up a lot of articles online about overnight potty training and we found out some great tips on how to get through it.

For example, we'll limit his beverages after dinner, and start out a few nights with waking him up around 11 to go to the bathroom. We truly feel that he is the type of kid who knows he has a pull up on so he just uses it because he's too lazy...that's his personality with anything. Give up at a race if he's not winning, starts crying if he didn't get his sock on right the first time...etc. He's lazy and we've been trying to counter-act that and teach him that he has to keep going, keep trying, even if doesn't work the first time.

We discussed that we need to buy a plastic matress protector and some extra sheets so that if he has accidents we'll be able to do a fast switch. We were pretty confident with our idea. So DF called BM. He said, "I was thinking that maybe Son is ready to try sleeping without a pullup. What do you think?"

BM's response: "Hell no! I'm not cleaning up that mess." And she wouldn't discuss it any further.

Any time parenting is the slightest bit of a hassle, BM just gives up or refuses to do it. No wonder where SS gets his attitude from.

i would suggest going for it when he's at your house. pretty soon he'll get tired of peeing on himself. once he gets the hang of using the potty he wont like to be dirty...imo. goodluck!!
