SM Fail

I was half-watching Sex and the City when SD9 came downstairs and we decided to play her Nintendo Switch, on the portable screen. Mario Kart is actually pretty fun, especially because she is probably the only person on the planet I can actually beat at video games. Sex and the City was still on the TV as we were playing, and occasionally we would pay a little attention to it, enough to get into the story line (Carrie was trying to get back together with Aiden). When we'd had enough video games, we watched a few more minutes and I decided it probably wasn't that appropriate for SD, and I didn't really think SD was into it anyway, so I flipped to a Hallmark movie.

SD: Aren't you going to watch your show?

Me: What show?

SD: The one with the girl who was trying to get back together with the guy

Me: Oh I wasn't that into it (lie), and figured you would rather watch a Hallmark movie anyway.

SD: No I was actually hoping you would watch the show, I wanted to see what happened. Can we watch it? Please?

Me: Um...what the hell *turns Sex and the City back on*

10 minutes later, a scene with Samantha is on.....

SD: What's a strap-on?

Me:  *shok* *shok*    Uhhhh.....(long pause).....it's a kind of underwear?  *scratch_one-s_head*

Sex and the City, definitely not age-appropriate for a 9yr old. Lol. I told my SO and he just started laughing and said, What! Oh my God!

I have found myself laughing about this many times since it happened. Turns out I forgot a lot of things about that show  *unknw*

Killing it at this SM thing!

LMAO. I've had these moments with SD10. Something on the TV or radio promting some awkward moments!!!

I sat there so long thinking of a response that I actually started to say something more towards the truth, like "something adults use", and then I suddenly panicked! lol

Years ago, the boys and I would cuddle on the couch and watch B horror movies when DH worked some weekends. DH had insisted when at a flea market one day to purchase a package of B rated horror flicks for us.  Titles seemed ok but he never opened the pack to actually read the backs.

The first rainy Saturday the boys and I got ready, grabbed our favorite blankets and hot chocolate, curled up and hit play.

The first 15 minutes was fine.  Movie about a murdered hitchhiking girl, blah blah blah comes back to haunt the road and all that pick up hitchhikers.

Here comes the truck and who is driving and picks up the should be dead hitchhiker?  Ron Jeremy himself... Good Dog I spit hot chocolate out of my nose. During the time I am trying to wipe up the mess, untangle the blankets and find the remote, the girl had told Ron she would give him a smile for the ride, leaned over into his lap and bit off his ding ding.  Blood splurted all over the wind shield.

SS16 then 7 says - what happened?  Did she get a nose bleed?  SS20 then 11 says ummmm no stupid she got her period.  OMG!

DH came home and boy did he get it.  He is no longer to pick any movies.  At any time!

LOL! She got her period! Classic. ROFL

When my SO was laughing and asking what I was doing to his kid, I said, well you're in no position to point fingers, Mr. "I let my daughter watch The Spy who dumped me where they showed full-on ass and balls". His defense was, who could have seen that coming?! We were laughing so hard though.

We never see it coming!

I have a feeling that these boys knew more then they were letting on.  Wow the early days of SMhood.  I was so clueless!

Haha great answer! I accidentally put Rob Zombies Halloween on instead of the original and I think me and both the girls were scarred for life after the first 45 seconds. I forgot how gross his version is.

Hahaha

When SD was around 5 or so, I didn't realize she was hanging out outside of my room while I was listening to trap music and getting ready to go out. I came out of my room only to hear her singing "somebody come get her, she's dancing like a stripppperrrr"

Oops. I had to stifle my laughter everytime she sang it for the next week until she forgot about it.

That's also happened with "beez in the trap" and she never forgot about that song. She sang it at BM's I guess, because last time I saw BM, she was like "oh, by the way, beez in the trap eh?" and we both laughed about it.

Ha!

See if Crazy got wind that SD saw this show and knew the words "strap-on", she would probably have a call into Social Services. Unfortunately we can't laugh off the inappropriate things SD learns through me. Blum 3

Haha that sucks! We all accidentally teach our kids crappy things now and then. It's part of parenting, step or not.
