An amazing feast.

I got home from work at about 4:15.  The Turkey was about an hour from done, the smells in the house were incredible.

We called the kid (my former skid who asked me to adopt him) and had a great bonding session while the Turkey finished cooking and the amazing dishes my bride had baked/cooked over the past two days warmed up.

The Feast:

Cajon spiced Turkey

Almond flour and flax meal seasoned garlic dinner rolls.

Cauliflower and Sage Sausage Stuffing/Dressing (Stuffing and Dressing. The same thing. Pick which title fits your regional demographic)

Green beans with mushrooms, onion, and some amazing spices, etc....

Curried Cranberries (zero carb orange marmalade, curry, fresh cranberries, Truvia in lieu of sugar)

The Desserts:

Caramel stewed "apples".  (Chiyote squash, and magical stuff)

Crustless "Pumpkin" pie. (Some of the Chiyote squash, stewed "apples",  vanilla protein drink mix, half-n-half, Flavor Fountain Pumpkin Pie Extract) all mixed togehter with more witchery and magic.

Amazing stuff.  All of it.  All concocted in some arcane witch's ceremony of addictive amazingness. I am convinced there a number of sacrifical goats, various plants, etc... that go into the preparation ceremony for this life alteringly flavorful stuff. My DW won't tell me what arcane ceremonies she goes through to create this magic.

OMG, I am stuffed.

Now for the miracle.  My blood glucose started at 82, peaked at 177, and is already back down to 136 on the way to the 85-110 range where it usually is..

If this had been the fully leaded varieties of all of this goodness, I would be at 350 and still going up while my insulin pump was running as fast as possible trying to catch up.

My bride is sooooo sexy!

Then... we have the saga of Waffle Brain and Spaghetti Brain.

After this amazing feast Waffle Brain with extreme good judgement and intelligence starts the clean up while Spaghetti Brain goes to pack for her trip home to  the Spaghetti Brain homeland early tomorrow.

Waffle Brain very logically and systematically clears the table, loads the diswhasher with the table dishes, and table ware then starts staging fresh storage containers to fill with the incredible leftovers..  Opening the refrdgerator Waffle Brain sees several "dirty" empty containers on various shelves.  This causes Waffle Brain's synapses to short circuit and WB stands there staring blankly at the "dirty" empty containers in the refidgerator as the systematically connected sections of the waffle work through this mystery.

Spaghetti Brain walks into the kitchen and says "Why are you dirtying up clean storage containers. Use the ones in the refridgerator that I used when I finished cooking and baking yesterday. I just took out the food to heat it up to serve with the Turkey."

Waffle Brain was still trying to figure out why there are dirty containers in the refridgerator.

Scratch one-s head

And that folks, is why Spaghetti Brains have super powers.  Their completely interconnected neural pathways can get from any point to any other nearly instantly even if there is no discernable relationship between point A and point X. While Waffle Brains plod through the sequential logical interconnection of the waffle grid working out the path from point A to point X very systematically and logically.

And now, I can't nap in what would be my usual post TG feast over stuffed Tryptophan induced semi-coma because I am still processing the "dirty" formerly empty containers that now hold the tasty leftovers in our refridgerator.  Equally baffling is how the dishes from this huge meal all fit in the diswasher in a single load.  Usually, the dishwasher is full of the dirty storage containers that used to hold the pre-prepared elements of the TG feast and I have to do all of the dishes by hand after putting away the leftovers.

Mind boggling.

Dash 1

Unknw

I forgot the GRAVY!  (Tasty stuff).  Bone broth, Konjac powder, soysauce, seasonings.   Nearly zero carbs.

She does love me. I am a blessed man. My insulin pump and continuous blood glucose monitor certainly love her.

I hope everyone had a wonderful gathering with the people you love.  It is just the two of us this evening, but my heart is definately full.  I do love my bride more than I can express with words.

It was my first time. And I had no concept about pre-prepping a few days before. I had thought that purchasing ingredients counted as prepping. So 7:30 am pacific Time, I spring out of bed make the coffee and start getting dishes washed. To make room in our tiny kitchen for dinner prep. Mom had reminded me to cook the giblets and chill them for gravy roux...so then I figured the sweet potatoes needed peeling, cubing and boiing so that was next. Then came more cleaning, and the fresh green beans needed julienning. Cooked the fresh cranberries for a special cranberry chutney.

It was truly a cooking marathon with a projected feast at 1:pm. Stuffed the bird with onions and carrots and herbs from my garden, and popped it in the oven for the next three hours, basting every 30 mins. Id forgotten how to make gravy from scratch, but had the chilled giblbets and stock, plus the pan drippings so mom gave me an impromtu tutorial, and it was fabulous!

Menu: dry brined Turkey, Cranberry Chutney with spices and orange juice, sweet potatoes with a pecan crumble, and fresh green bean casserol, pumkin pie special ordered for dessert.

It all came out fabulous and I recieved much in the way of accolades. The place settings newly purchased with matching napkins and napin rings, and my 70-year old china plates we hardly ever use.

It was an early evening for my parents as my mother, who suffers COPD tires easily and quickly. Husband cleaned the entire house, and did post-dinner cleanup even as he helped himself to seconds and started a turkey carcass soup.

SD SMPS was cheerful at her arrival. I made her a special plate as she had arrived after everyone else had left. It was just myself, husband, mom, dad, and bff, which actually was the perfect number as our table is small. She raved about the dinner as well...

All in all a successful first try and I look forward to doing this again and being more prepared and less stressed, and hopefully add some things to the process (like more people and decorations...)

Glad you had a wonderful TG!

Hopefully you got to enjoy the amazing food you prepared and were not passed out on sofa in exhaustion.

My bride made it amazing. Even the clean up was just about a non issue because of how she pre-prepared.  Our condo kitchen is tiny so clean up has to happen constantly and even when it is loaded with dishes, etc.... it only takes about 20-30 mins to clean including dishes, counters, floors, etc...

Our primary home has a massive kitchen. I hate cleaning that kitchen. Though it is amazing.  A small kitchen fits my cleaning brain better because I can ignore it if it can be shoved to the side.  Our postage stamp condo kitchen does not allow for shoving aside.

I am happy that it went well for you and your guests.
