Trying to be positive
Well, as much help as this site usually is, you have to admit it can be depressing. The overall attitude for most of us is that this particular calling in life kinda stinks! As far as skids are concerned, we are just unappreciated, disrespected, taken-for-granted, outsiders whose only fault is that we fell in love with their (divorced, socially available) parent. Sorry!!
Well, I thought that maybe to cheer us all up, I could start a group gratitude blog!! What do you guys say? It will give us a little change in perspective and also, serve to alleviate the fears in those considering jumping in, LOL!!
I'll start (obviously, because it's my blog):
Happy memories:
1)Last summer, it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, SS13 and SS12 were out fishing (we live on the water) with neighbor kid-13. DH and I were watching from the back porch enjoying a glass of wine. Boys were catching a few and having a great time. Then they got "THE BIG ONE". Well, neighbor parents and DH and I ran right down with our cameras and congratulations. We had a nice chat with neighbors, DH cleaned fish, and we all enjoyed a nice dinner. And I thought, gee, this is just what a normal happy family can be!
2)Just before Christmas, above-mentioned SS's, DH and I were driving home on a dark snowy night, and the local radio station was playing all Christmas carols, all the time. Well, we cranked up the radio, and we all sang along! I wasn't even embarrassed by my horrible singing because the music was up loud. Kids let go of their "we're too cool for this crap" attitude and a good, fun time was had by all.
It's moments like this that can keep you going for days, even weeks on end. Please, everyone, share some POSITIVE COMMENTS and HAPPY MEMORIES.. I think we all could really use a pick-me-up!

My SS tells me many things
My SS tells me many things that he doesn't tell either of his bios. A positive for me, but also kind of sad.

Good idea!
The snow days as crazy as they were-my bios and his D played tag, made forts and played w/swords, make angles, snowmen, laughed, fell, tackled eachother. It was awesome to watch.
Her and my youngest that don't get along-side by side just the two of them running off slopes on the street/neighbor yards in the snow for a LONG time.
Her making the boys waffles
All of us sharing dinner and stories/jokes.
There are good times, many. MOST of them come when it's must him and my bios-or if it's my bf and I hanging w/his D...combining them we have issues-but there ARE those moments where it's a pretty picture. I treasure those greatly.
If I nhad even one happy time
If I nhad even one happy time shared with the SD's I would certainly share my story, but I am sorry to say that I do not have any happy times to share. This is so much more difficult than I thought it would be. I enjoyed reading your stories though
Thank you for sharing them

SD's birthday is next week. Last night DF and I decided to give her a party on Saturday. We spent hours shopping for Princess Tiana stuff. I can't wait till Saturday.
