OT... Models Vs Real Life

misschristina95's picture

I just wanted to write very quickly about something that has been bothering me for such a long time... I see these women on magazines, tv, and music, and guys just ohh and ahh at them, because they are gorgeous. Not because their faces are that gorgeous, but mainly their bodies. I am sure that if I walked around in the kind of outfits that these women wear I would have ohh's and ahh's as I walked down the street too. But along with those wouldn't I hear a lot of "sluts," or namecalling? I don't quite get why men put these women on pedistals and the real life women in front of them are not?
Just a thought.

Men are visual creatures. There is nothing wrong with looking. It is very human. I do it myself if I see an attractive male. The problem only comes when they actually TOUCH or gawk at another in front of you. THAT is very disrespectful. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. It will only drive you crazy and make you feel insecure about yourself.

My DH is actually attracted to women with real curves. He likes a little extra weight - "something to hold on to." I know he's not just saying it, because . . . well, one time, he and I went to a strip club. The girls he was hot for were not the super-thin perfect bodies. He liked the ones with a little extra hip, maybe a little belly too.
