OT - New Year not off to great start...

lieutenant_dad's picture

I'm just going to bullet all this out:

  • Got the flu right before New Year's. Went into chest and haven't been able to sleep well without coughing up a lung.
  • My SIL's dad died in surgery while SIL, SBro, niece, mom, and SF were driving to Disney World for vacation.
  • My furnace stopped working Wednesday. Finally got heat yesterday and will limp along until Fall when we will have to replace the unit. Did I mention it had been unseasonably warm (50s) all week until Wednesday when it dropped below freezing? Yeah...
  • My mom's puppy has been staying with DH and I. While I was bringing in my dog from outside yesterday, the puppy managed to lock the deadbolt and lock my dog and I out of the house for about 30-45 minutes.
  • My mom's geriatric dog was staying with a sitter at my mom's house. I got a call from my mom and the sitter yesterday because dog was throwing up blood. I was 2 hours away heading to a work meeting. Dog gets to vet, find out he has ulcers (DH and I think he also has a respiratory infection), and he continued to hack up blood all over my mom's carpet when they sent him home. I relieved the sitter and am staying with the dog until my mom and SF get home tomorrow. Good news today is that the bleeding seems to have stopped, at least outwardly, and he tooks his meds, drank water, and even managed to get outside to pee (DH and I had to walk him in, though, because he expended all his energy getting outside).

Yeah, rough start to the new year...

I just read that the second week in January is statistically the week with the highest death rate all year.  So yeah.  January tends to suck in general.  :(  Hope things start getting better for you and fingers crossed that the doggy improves!

Consider January a trial month and officially begin the new year on February 1st.

Sorry you're dealing with all of this. {{{{hugs}}}}

I'm so sorry that you are going through all of this.

I, for sure, would go for a re-start.

When it rains, it pours sometimes.  This shall pass is what I remind myself when everything goes wrong at the same time.
