It's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to..

Yep, today is my bday and DH hasn't seen SD going on 3 weeks. My girlfriend who normally works Saturday night graveyards took tonight off and she and her husband are taking DH and me out.

SD calls and I don't know the full convo, but DH told her she can go to dinner with us. We were probably going to go to the casino since we assume the pubs will be packed.

His reasoning? "She probably just wants to get away from BM's and we can drop her off after or she can just hang out at our house".

I want to scream but I'm staying calm. He claims that I told him that I wanted her over for my bday weekend. Um, no. I never said that. He knew we had plans with our friends and why would I invite a kid to a bar when I intend on getting toasty? Grrrrr!!

I find this to be rewarding a bratty kid. Sure, now kid wants to come see Daddy. There is a night out and a dinner involved. Allowing the kid to selectively choose when to come and when not to , IMO, has every little to do with being fed-up with BM or just wanting some time away from BM. Nope.

It's playing Dummy Daddy for the fool he is acting.

What makes your husband think this other couple who is taking you and he out for a celebration of your birthday , wants some brat kid tagging along?  It's rude for Dad to invite this kid along and force her on an evening which was meant to be for grown-ups and close friends.

How did the conversation go? I'm guessing, of course, but my hunch it went along the lines of Daddy meaning you and he were going to dinner and brat child leaped with 'oh, Daddy, I so want to see you tonight, it's been so long with me sick and all that *pause for dramatic effect* , but if you already have plans I will understand *additional pause with a slight sniffle as if about to cry*.

Anyway.... I hope you enjoy your birthday celebration. Happy birthday.

Skid only wants to come over to upstage your birthday.  I would tell DH a casino is no place for a kid and that if he wants to see her on YOUR birthday, he can go to mickey-Ds with her but don't expect a warm reception after YOU and the couple return from the casino.

Doncha just love the projection?  Thought YOU wanted SKID over for YOUR b-day (said or thought NO SM EVER!!!)

I certainly hope he checked with the couple that are taking you out.  It would be the height of rudeness to drag a kid along to an adult event without asking them first.  Frankly, I think it would be rude to even ask them.  He should have just told the skid she could come over tomorrow.  I'm astounded at his presumptuousness, and I would be pissed and embarrassed.

I said "maybe SD can come over 'this weekend' and go to church with us". I can see how DH spun that into my actual bday. However, he knew that tonight was for adults only and that our personal Uber (his sister) wouldn't physically have room for a 6th person.

He doesn't expect our friends to pay for SD, but he knows they plan to treat us and inviting another party is extremely rude. So....

He is going to let her stay at our house alone (which I don't agree with), but I keep repeating the mantra: not my monkey, not my circus.

If it were my birthday dinner, I would be absolutely enraged if DH asked SD along without consulting me first, and for sure I would have said no!
