In this episode of the BM & MIL show SO gets a new pair of shoes!

SO and I have had some "just how blind ARE you?" conversations around MIL & BM faaaaamily antics.  They are seemingly constructive conversations but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't wonder if he recognized just how little he truly understands about my position.

And then something beautiful happened.  A split second glimpse into what it must feel like to be me.

SO was at some talent show nonsense for the golden child.  My drama llama backstabby MIL was there because she has more or less taken on BMs responsibilities up until bedtime.  Gross.

Anyway, as this $#!+ show comes to a close, MIL says to SO... date x, y, z is your weekend, right?

SO confirms and asks why.  MIL drops the bomb that she has made plans for the GC that day - that just so happen to include BM.  SO can just drop him off after breakfast and keep the younger scapegoat for the day.  And just before SO can manage to say something he'll regret, GC strolls up so SO tables it and tells Joan Crawford he'll call her about it later.  To which she responds "Why? We already bought the tickets."

While this is going on SO is texting me like the plane is going down.  Boo hooing about how this was done without even consulting him and now apparently he has to worry about his mom AND BM minimizing him.  I commiserate by saying something along the lines of, "sounds like they are putting you in the same position as me."

Light bulb moment for SO for a split second before he has to return to licking his wounds.  Not a lasting impression, I'm sure.  But it amused me to no end.

And just in case anyone was wondering, MIL got a call later where SO had to set the expectation that as the parent he should be consulted.  No, really.  MIL cried.  Aww.

Some days I wonder if I'm a glutton for punishment.  At least he (says he) understands why I'll not make anything legal before skids age out.

BM has been airing out her irrational tendencies quite a bit more as of late and sadly I'm jerky enough that it makes this little episode of the BM & MIL show feel a bit vindicating.

Sorry SO.  Now that you see the shoes on your feet, start walking.  Let me know when you hit the first mile marker.
