so as posted yesterday the SK are crying boo hoo, they don't like that we have rules etc here and want to go back to BM. to change this attitude behaviour SO sent SK to his parents for a few days. What this will accomplish has yet to be seen but I look at it as rewarding them. GP are not the most strict and are pretty relaxed about bedtimes etc..... Mean while mine are here at home following/respecting the rules, doing their chores, and even doing their assigned 1hr daily summer school work that I set up for them without complaining or me having to nag them. This is how they are most days and yesterday was no different. They got their work done in the morning and in the afternoon I took them to play at the water park. SK got upset saying it wasn't fair that I wasn't taking them too (come noon SK still hadn't done shit for chores, had just finished eating breakfast and SO was making them sit at the table to start their hour of summer school work.) He did tell them there was nothing unfair about my kids going to the water park and SK staying home as my kids had done everything they needed to do before lunch time and earned the privilege/reward of going to the park for the afternoon. Work first, play second was the moto I was raised by and still live by.

Good for you DH.

I do have to say, being a Grandma, we are made to spoil the grandkids lol. I respect their parents, but dammit, I went thru all of that, and twice with skids....I just wanna spoil my g-babies.

My own GRANDMOTHER used to have that mantra: Work first, play after! My paternal grandmother was STRICTER than my parents and they were pretty strict!!!

Better to be too strict than too lenient, I say.

Oh yeah, my family was big on that one as well. Gee can you imagine if that principle was applied today? The millions on welfare would be in for a big let down. . .they wouldn't be nearly as "well nourished" as they are now.
