My dad invited DH, SD16 and I over for lunch this weekend. My dad treats SD like she is a bio grandchild and hadn't seen her since Christmas. SD16's social skills are horrible. She acting like a 5 year old. She needs to be the center of attention every second and will make up insane sounding stories just to hear herself talk. For years I have been the bad guy and cut her off when she monopolizes the conversation for too long. Lately I have let DH handle it. My dad and step mom included her in on our conversations, asked about school, friends and whatnot. But there was some things we discussed that really didn't have anything to do with her. Could she sit for 5 minutes and just politely listen? Oh hell no...she would interupt, laugh at illogical times and attemtped to dip her sandwitch into her chocolate milk 'to make it taste better'. I thought my DH was going to blow a gasket. I sat there and smiled. This is twice she has embarrassed him in public. My dad tried to make a joke of it, but DH said no. She is more than old enough to have table manners.

After she was dropped off at her mom's he said to me,
"What the hell is with SD when she's in front of people? I was so embarrassed at your dad's!"

Nice of you to finally notice DH..she's been doing this for YEARS!
