Holidays

So whats the normal for holidays like Christmas when it is to be shared???

for the last 3 years its been nothing but a headache.... BMs family celebrates on Christmas Eve, which should work out but DH would like SD5 to wake up at his house Christmas morning...which i think is a fair request....last year i suggested to both Dh & BM about alternating as BM doesn't want SD5 to come over late at night on Christmas Eve (her fam jam just stays up all night drinking) we have offered to pick her up in her PJS to bring her to our place and that's still no good... Last Christmas i suggested that one year SD5 stay with BM Christmas eve night and the next year SD5 will come to DHs house in the evening (after they open gifts and such)

just wondering how most work this out??? Christmas is the only holiday that their is so many issues.....

DP and BM used to alternate too. Huge PITA for skid exchange xmas day.
BM also used to never let DP have girls on Thanksgiving, ever. Because it was important time for her family. (like for no one else?)

DP flipped last year.

So they came to an agreement.
BM has girls every Thanksgiving week.
DP has girls every Christmas week.
BM has girls most New Years eves (this may change as SD11 gets older).

Shared? What's that?

BM's side of the family was way too important for SD to miss any holidays with BM.

Ss6 alternates, pick up/drop off is 10 am Christmas morning. With one party getting him from end of school to Xmas morning, the other from Xmas until school goes back. BM thinks it's New Years day, which is good for us because then he can come back to us more than the night before school stats again. BM who has EOWE visitation is responsible for all transportation. She also has very scattered family so holidays are with whomever she is dating/using at the time of the holiday and their family not hers/SSs. my stomach is in knots every year. Even if she gets Xmas day, she is often traveling and will send him back early and demand time before Christmas.

BM is out west/Europe/Mexico/South America for 6 months, I hope she never comes back, but I know she'll be back in time to pretend to be MOTY at parent teacher conference and bitch about holidays.

I've got a friend who always has kids Xmas eve and sends to their dad's Xmas day because her family does a big deal 24th for dinner, his family does their big deal on the 25 for brunch. I'm not positive but I think they alternate if kids sleep at her house or his so sometimes they wake up with her. I know I've seen fb pics of Xmas morning gifts at her house.

A coworker gave her ex thanksgiving every year and she took Xmas. It just worked out for them that way, I think the kids would just do gifts with dad whatever the closet weekend was.

Most people tend to alternate eve/day.
