Happy Halloween, STalkers!!!

Did anyone dress up for work? I was going to, but woke up in so much pain I had to spend an extra 20 minutes in the shower to let the hot water help work out some kinks (and I am NOT a fan of hot showers - blech!).

We're having Cube or Treat at work. People with candy have pumpkins on top of their cubes. Evil Aniki brought in some Reese's, Mounds, Butterfingers, Smarties, and Dove Dark chocolate. Nom nom nom...

Will you be handing out candy to the little ghouls and goblins? Or will you be huddled in the dark, watching a scary movie?

What's your favorite:

Halloween candy?
Candy cigarettes. Yep. I luuuuurrrrrvv those things.

Favorite Halloween movie?
Hocus Pocus

Costume as a kid/adult?
Kid: Hobo, wearing a tattered pair of jeans and an equally tattered flannel shirt (both Dad's)
Adult: So many from which to chose, but... Devil With A Blue Dress On (yes, from the song). I had my blonde hair spiked up into horns and sprayed with red glitter hairspray (those suckers were STIFF!!!), red blush, lipstick, and eye makeup, and red stilettos. My dress was blue velvet with long sleeves. The sleeves were open with little straps from shoulder to wrist (so my arms were pretty bare). The back was in a vee down the back almost to my waist, and another vee in the front slit to my navel. BTW, there were flesh-colored inserts in front and back to "preserve" my modesty, but it was awfully difficult to tell in the dim lighting. LOL!

Yay I love Halloween....my DH and I dressed up for work...Jim and Pam from the office for the Dunder Mifflin Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies pro-am fun run.

Here at work we don't do anything, but I brought in unfortunate cookies with bad fortunes.

I'm taking off early to go decorate outside and then we are having people over for dinner and drinks while we hand out candy.

Unfortunate cookies?? How cool!

Any kind of Halloween theme for dinner or drinks? Like Poison Apple cocktails?

Nah we aren't that crafty, just some soup and wine, my friend and I are leaving for a weekend away to the big city for the Day of the Dead festivals tomorrow, so we have to be good since we are getting up at o dark thirty to head out.

I am passing out candy, but bought less this year because I don't want to be passing it out all night. Though I may go buy more today becausw I'm worried I don't have enough...

DH mentioned wanting to do something tonight,  but he doesn't want to leave the house. He forgot it was Halloween and is now disappointed that kids will be knocking every 3 seconds.

Candy is Starburst. Kid costume was any of them where I got to wear a poofy dress. Adult costume was probably my homemade Captain America that I wore at Disney World. Movie...hmm...not sure I have one.

I'm worried I don't have enough...

Ha, you sound like my sister!! She bought two more bags of candy last night. TWO!

Mmmmm... Starburst. I like Cherry the best. I also liked Plum, but they no longer make that flavor.

with black cats in bow ties next to a quarter moon.   We don't get T or T'ers where I live.  Too rural.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

I'm okay with no TOT's. For too many years, I lived in a rural area so I got out of the candy habit.

Next year, I may carve a couple of pumpkins and hand out candy. Maybe...

No costume for me this year -nor past few years come to think of it.  Used to be a big deal for us.  Decorate outside the house.  Each time less kids.  I am passing out candy but worried about the doorbell and people coming/going since our pup is an a fear period and sounds vicious at anyone approaching the house/car.

Worse then having diabetes on Halloween though?  Prepping for my colonoscopy/endoscopy tomorrow am- eating what I can now and then fasting.  Even the 'approved' list of drinks I can't have *juice*- so I have broth and gatorade zero (white)...and will be spending the evening at the toilet while kids come to the door and the dog barks her head off.  FUN FUN!

Aniki-Moderator's picture

I remember TONS of kids running around when I was. But that was over 40 years ago (let me get my ear trumpet and cane...).

Ugh, that's, um.... poopie. Wink
Have you tried the white gatorade... I think it's glacier frost? It's a cherry flavor. I plan to freeze it into poopsicles when I have to prep.

No dressing up for me, but I am planning to go get a haircut today, so who knows what they will do to me LOL.  We are not passing out candy this year.  All of the kids who live in our neighborhood are 7th grade and up, so we don't get many trick or treaters.  My boys want to go to a haunted house down in the country club, and DH will be at an AA meeting.

Favorite candy as a kid was the miniature Butterfingers.  Favorite candy now is none...can't deal with sugar.

Favorite costume as a kid was Laura Ingalls from Little House.  My grandma made the dress, bonnet and pinafore. Favorite costume as an adult was a disgruntled pregnant woman.  I was 4 days overdue with OBS, and DH had just gotten custody of SD.  People would ask me what I was, so I'd tell them that I was a disgruntled prego...I got a lot of candy that year LMAO.

Favorite Halloween movie is It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

How about some peanut butter? The kind that is simply ground peanuts. No oil; no sugar. I love that stuff.

Funny that you mention Laura Ingalls. Over the weekend, I was thinking, "I need to pull out the Little House series and reread it." Biggrin

Nightmare Before Christmas is our favorite halloween movie. Three years ago I was a very pregnant Sally and DH was Jack Skelington with a beer gut.

have costumes for my two kitties although they do not like it.  I keep it on for about 5 minutes.  My stb 12 yr old Bombay cat has a sinus infection so he will NOT be in the mood!

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Damn, thrice, that's cruel and unusual punishment for a kitty! LOL

Psssst.... when I read 'Bombay' I immediately thought 'Bombay Sapphire'... Drinks

HAPPY HALLOWEEENNNN!!  And Happy New Year to some!

Favorite movie:  Halloween LOL

Tonight the pooch is wearing his spider costume and DH and I will dress up as ghouls and SS16 will do some trick or treating.  I am pretty much making him go.  He cannot say no to me.

We will be in a friends neighborhood where everyone sits on their front decorated lawns handing out candie and adult bevvies.

No dressing up, not handing out candy - our 12 year old pup had a growth removed & teeth cleaned today under anesthesia, and I brought him home an hour ago. Poor pup is dopey & disoriented, I'm not gonna leave his side for anything. He's melting my heart, laying here with glazed eyes, tongue out, so I'm all about lights out & babying the pup tonight. I did enjoy seeing costumes at the store earlier though.

StepUltimate's picture

He's perked up about 90%. Nerve-wracking to have my pup go under but he did good & happily ate a small, two cooked & chopped up chiicken thighs with the broth, and went outside a little while ago.

It always tends to be "different", with these SDs. We take turns and alternate years. Last year was ToxicTroll's, where she was supposed to buy Munchkin a costume, and instead of buying her a costume, she bought her fart spray online and a few prank toys. BM waited until the day before to tell Munchkin that she was "broke", so Munchkin cried a bunch of tears, told me her BM is "so selfish and only thinks of herself", I bit my tongue, and she used the costume from the year before that I had purchased for her (spent nearly 75$!) She dried her tears, got some clothes she could shred and went as a she-werewolf and had a good time, whie her mother and tweedle dum lingered behind on their own.

This year, Munchkin bought her OWN costume, I bought her some accessories, and newly arrived Feral Eldest was supposed to "do her makeup". Well, I badgered DH for a photo of her in her costume with her makeup, as I left before her arrival for school drop-off. Pouty-faced unhappy camper!!!! Apparently she was unhappy with it and wiped her face clean. So now, we are going to take munchkin to a nice neighborhood near my parents that is FAMOUS for blockbuster trickortreating, where its one big party for kids and adults. There are blocks of homes decorated like crazy, a pumpkin patch that is over the top with over 100 individually carved pumkins, and all the candy a kid could wish for., plus its safe, because the streets are blocked from cars driving around.

Then we get to drop kiddo off at BM's!!!! And celebrate the evening by snoring in front of the tv, or enjoying adult beverages in front of the fire pit...

Biggrin

My favorite costume was one year I dressed like dorothy from wizard of ozz. White thigh-stockings, a pale blue skirt that I cut the bottom off and glued into those straps, a white blouse. I dyed my hair dark auburn, and carried a basket of chocolate instead of a brown dog. I bought red shoes from goodwill and glued sequins on them.

My second facorite costume was "Ghost Bride". I bought a lacy wedding dress with a tight-on-top bodice, and cut the skirt basically in half to make a mini dress. I bought a big gauzy fabric - also goodwill (a curtain I think), to put over and around myself (like a shroud). I had dried some roses and used them as my bouget. I dyed my hair jet black this time an it was pretty long. Pale white makup and powder and black eye shadow for contouring around the eyes and cheeks. dark red lipstick..black nail polish and white stockings with black shoes. I rocked it.
