OT - Freaked out part 2

Stick's picture

I wrote a few days ago about a stranger at my door and the police coming.

Well, I let a few of the neighbors know about it so we can all watch out for each other and some of them have husbands that work and they have small children. I also have an elderly man across the hall from me that lives alone so I wanted to let him know.

OT - Insurance for kids

Stick's picture

I don't know about other states, but I did want to let the members here know to check into insurance that their state may offer, especially if you have a child that needs a lot of medication or has many doctor visits. So often we think that health insurance provided by an employer is best, but in our particular case, it is not.

DH had health insurance at his old job and SD was on that insurance. He paid maybe $15-$20 a month for her coverage, but at the time she didn't really have any health issues.

Completely Off Topic - But this kind of freaked me out!! Kinda long story

Stick's picture

Ok guys - this is really off topic. But I had something happen today that has freaked me out a little bit but I'm also wondering if I'm just overreacting. Here goes.

I live in an apartment complex. 3 Floors in each building. 4 Apartments on each floor. I live on the top floor #12. You have to get buzzed into our communal hallway and then we each have our own (locking) doors.

OT- Okay guys, one more question on DISENGAGEMENT

Stick's picture

Sorry, I've just been somewhat introspective lately. I think I need to get laid. Damnit - DH won't be home for another 6 f*cking weeks!! Wink

Anyway - here's my next question and then I'll stop...

I read a lot about disengagement. I read a lot about fighting SO's for disciplining of children.

I know we have to pick our battles.

This is just a curious question to me ladies, and I am asking because I don't understand it.

OT - Strikes 1 & 2 for step kids....

Stick's picture

I had read a few blogs over the weekend and then ran out to do some errands. I had read a comment where someone said that kids should be treated the same, or something similar to that effect - meaning bio and step.

I also had responded to a post where I wasn't sure if I was going to have a "popular" opinion. Thank God I didn't start another dumb firestorm because I really didn't mean to criticize anyone, but the poster asked for input. And that had me thinking!!

Anyways, I had a 2 part thought / question and wanted to throw it out there.

Ok - Here's a question for whomever feels like answering....

Stick's picture

Let me start out by saying that I don't want this to come off as sounding like, I have a better answer or anything, I just would like everyone's thoughts on this...

I had life-threatening asthma ever since I was a child. I was diagnosed with another chronic, uncurable condition, when I was 17. I have lost and re-grown my hair at an early age. I have been on medication for as long as I can remember. I have been on life support. I still am on medication every day, and if I miss it for more than a few days, I start to get asthma attacks, which could be fatal.

I've recently discovered something this website is also good for

Besides Venting!! Smile

Every once in a while, I go through my past blogs just to see what I've written about, so I don't do it again.

And there it is.... a history of relationship with SD and BM. A history that I can look back at and say... Wow...this did come up before. Or Shoot! Was it really ONLY last Friday that we had this run in with BM?

So this past Friday... UGH - LONG

Stick's picture

I wasn't sure about posting this because I'm not even sure how I feel about it.

On Friday, DH and I met with BM to get her to sign a paper promising DH child support. SD lives with DH and I. SD's counselor has told DH and I that even though we both travel for a living for work, we can no longer do so at the same time. One of us always has to be home. This is already creating a financial hardship on DH and I as we have to now alternate our jobs.
