UPDATE: A-HA! There WAS a New School Portal that Chef NEVER GOT ANY INFORMATION ON!!

thinkthrice's picture

Turns out the new portal went live sometime in November/December 2016. The "schooltool" system is supposed to generate an email using the user's EMAIL ADDRESS as a user id. You cannot get the creds over the phone.

WELL, the school is now stating that they "NEVER HAD CHEF'S EMAIL" which is a bunch of baloney because a teacher there received his email back in September when it was first noticed the OLD webportal was retired. The teacher then assured Chef that he would get the new info.

Never happened. I did mention that when Chef was doing active visitation, Chef would have to BEG the school for info and it would start up then mysteriously shut off weeks later. Did I also mention that the skid's school district is the Girhippo's alma mater and that all the educators and admin staff are the Gir's comtemporaries/former school chums?

So Chef got the new info and sure enough, the last time it was logged into by a parent was JANUARY assumedly by either the Girhippo or StepDaddyBigBucks. Nice.

And for those of you who say "I never log into my kid's school portal" that's probably because your kid is doing well, not skipping classes, crater-epic failing, etc. the way these skids are.

I'm the only one that logs into the school portal. I've sent the login info to BM multiple times and she won't log in and DH just expects me to.

I hear ya. Most NCP biodads have been beaten down so much that they just look the other way and hope everything turns out alright.

We both have two forty hour jobs--But thank you for the GUBM gallery perspective anyway.

I'm wondering why Chef would bother logging in to see grades, attendance etc? Not like there is anything he can do about any of that right? He hasn't had contact with BM or skids in years has he?

Or is it just this is his only way of having 1/2 a clue what skids are up to?

I've emphasized over the years that despite the fact they are PASed out, we need to keep track of the goings on. Case in point--OSS20 moving out and emancipating himself whereas it was clear the Gir would remain silent and keep hauling in the payments till he turned 21. Plus he was able to rectify the CO and start claiming more than just the oldest who aged out for tax purposes anyway.

This will confirm what is happening--graduation etc. As long as the Gir is on the payroll, then constant vigilance is required. I'd feel differently if CS ended at 18 and you didn't have to go to court for months and months to get CS legally stopped the way you have to here in NYS.

Oh yes, very true! I already have a feeling DH will be battling BM2 about SS18. He is NOT going to graduate this year, she is expecting CS until he turns 19 at the very least. If he is still in school and living with BM, DH has no choice really but to pay it. But beyond that, if SS drops out, moves out etc. DH refuses to give her a dime and he will take her to court. Of course she will definitely neglect to relay pertinent information relating to SS not living there, dropping out etc.

we get it, he's an uncaring and uninvolved ass who likes to stuff his face. Thank DOG those kids have you.

Yawn....

It's terrible that BM never logged in and it's equally terrible neither did DH. It's not that hard to obtain log in info. If he sent email in September and is still waiting for a reply in April (instead of doing something about it), then it's on him. Both him and BM suck as parents.

It's of course possible that school work better with BM as dad hasn't seen kids for 7 or 8 years ( not saying it's his fault he hasn't see them but it's a fact). If kids tell the teacher that they the last time they saw their dad was many years ago, teachers might be apprehensive about working closely with dad (like sending him regular emails with updates etc) BUT he can still obtain log in info. There are many ways of doing it (email principal or board office or tech department or drive up there etc etc) That's if he wants to have the info

I agree about the law. It doesnt sound as school prohibited DH from getting access to a portal. He just never followed up.
