Weird Car Insurance Thing

Ursula's picture

I was just doing a new car insurance quote for myself and H.  It automatically populated cars associated with us (my car and his) but BMs car was also shown on the list?  Why would that be? My H has terrible credit so it's not like he's a co-signer on a loan for her.  It just seems very strange.

I don't know what state you are in, but I am an insurance agent in NJ.  When we run quotes, it will populate any one that at one time had an association.  It will also pull anyone one that has ever lived at the address.

Since in NJ the first letter and numbers of drivers licenses are the same for spouses and their children, it will pull the same for anyone that had the same first numbers.  In my case, when I run quotes for ss's and myself, it pulls DBDB, her husband (since same house as hers), their prior insurance. vehicles and driving records.

Lexisnexis  (system that reports insurance info) knows it all. When working with Medicare clients they can even see ppl's money cash app/Venmo/PayPal/ normal bank accounts.

Thank you all!  I was just so surprised when I saw BMs car listed.  Seems like it's nothing fishy going on.

How stressful

Well BM used our address to request auto insurance quotes. She not only never lived here, she never lived in the area. She was homeless and SD took her in for a brief moment (was a mistake). She did have an old car of sorts and auto insurance in SDs area is high so she used our address to request insurance quotes as we live in a nicer area.

My DH diagnosed with PTSD (combination of various scary life experiences including life with BM), when we started getting letters from insurance companies addressed to BM (not even the same last name), he had such awful anxiety attacks he had to go back to therapy. BM was already few months dead at the moment and DH was convinced she was hunting him from the grave and he will never be free of her.

it got resolved eventually but this shit was stressful
