lots been going on!

i just got my car back from the body shop. they uncovered two additional problems during final inspection and are negotiating w/ the insurance to see if the repairs will be covered.

dh is back to feeling just as bad as he did before the gallbladder surgery. poor guy. he saw the surgeon today, who ordered more bloodwork and is gonna schedule an appt w/ the GI doc for a 'tube down the throat' test. he's been vomiting, in pain on his belly which wraps around to his back, and weak. and now he also has a wicked cavity.

while he was there, i was taking lurch to the regular doctor to run some bloodwork and maybe figure out why he's so tired all the time. the kid sleeps for like 3 hours after school, then goes to bed at 8 or 9 and sleeps through the night! even the doc said, teens sleep alot, but his amt is *not* normal. she did the exam, we walked down the hall to the lab, then as we were leaving the poor kid almost passed out. he went blind for a few mins (eyes super, and i mean SUPER dilated), almost keeled over, his skin went white, and he broke out in a cold sweat. thankfully i was able to half-carry him back down to the dr's exam room where she gave him some sprite and waited until the symptoms passed.

could be anemic, could be because he had to fast and hadnt eaten, could be because he's got BP 20 pts below normal (which is common in tall, scrawny people), could be a combination. he's alright, but it did freak him out quite a bit!!

on a side note, here's something good for a laugh.
while we were waiting over at the lab, the nurse was drawing some guy's blood. he's sitting in the chair, one arm across his lap and the other on the side table that she was working on. so he asked, "how long do i have to wait before i can get stuck again?" (i'm assuming he's got multiple medical issues) the nurse replies, "2 or 3 days, to give the vein time to heal back up. but if you have another arm, they can use that one."

Shok ????? lurch and i both had a hard time stifling our giggles...

Any chance Lurch is smoking pot?

I used to get high with my friends after school, go home, eat, sleep for an hour or two, get up, eat, watch TV and then sleep all night.

I'm sure he has something else going on, the passing out in front of you is proof of that, but pot smokers sleep lots.

Depression? I went through a phase as a kid when I slept ALL the time and was always tired and I was really depressed.

Do you have access to a research hospital affiliated with a University? It might be worth seeing a doctor there. They tend to be better at dealing with chronic and mysterious illnesses.

I can't believe that as long as your DH has been sick, the doctors haven't been able to figure out what is going on. Given his symptoms, I would think they would have already done an upper and lower GI. You both have my sympathies.

I went through a stage when I was about SS's age where I about fainted every time I had blood drawn. While mostly psychological, I think it was compounded by the fact I had very low blood pressure. I exhibited all the symptoms he did - except I'm not sure about the eyes. I did "gray out" as I got closer to passing out.

Thnx ladies. Lurch is fine now, blood tests came out ok. No depression, but i do have a piss cup i can bring home from work... his white blood cell count was off, she wants to see him again w/in 2 wks to retest. we'll see.

Dh is handling pain and symptoms. The reason they went for gallbladder is cuz it was only functioning at 12 percent. But thats obviously not it. Now theyre thinking pancreas...

We'll see......

Dh is riled up cuz im chopped liver and cant make any calls for the kids on his behalf - cant ask for any blood tests. Hell cant even submit proof of residency to the school. It had to be from dumbass golden uterus, or theeee dddaaaaaadddd. He's pissed enough to want to consult the attorney to find a go-'round, maybe a living power of attorney, if that even exists in this state...

Again, we'll see........
